Do Any Of You Buy The Generation 1 Knockoffs?

Recommended Posts

Exactly, I love getting the $5 combiners or the $3 KO's and letting them get cut down in "battle" It's fun and harmless.

I'd never display a KO though, even the higher end ones. To me it's like getting a Fiat with a Ferrai shell.

-it's still a Fiat, no matter how much you try and convince yourself otherwise.

I have bought some KOs in the past. SL-551 Computron and Blitzwing. Didn't pay much for them, but got rid of them. They are just too crappy. I just bought a Liokaiser from Ebay for $8 shipped. I know I will never buy a LIokaiser so I just wanted to look at the combination scheme. What a piece of crap.

There's lots of reasons to buy KO G1's.

I would recommend it in a lot of situations simply to get the weapons to complete a real toy or set, like the combiners.

Some I would recommend simply because they are higher quality KO's, like the Red Mirage for example, and the real Diaclone version is IMPOSSIBLE to get!.

It is usually easy enough to go to Ebay and pick up a junk lot of TF's and start piecing one together.

Finally, some of the KO's coming out these days are variations in size or color to the original. That tends to make them appealing to collectors like me, who compledted our G1 collection long ago. It is really nice to have a Predaking that is compatable with the normal G1's, with that new Mini version that came out, or there are a couple versions of six shot that might also make him more compatable to the G1 characters. And who can leave out the newer HUGE G1 Soundwave that is about the same size as blaster? Love that character and just like to have it on display, I do NOT want to transform it much, or let my nephews play with it for fear of busting the legs off at the hips. And there is a couple clear G1 toys out there that I would not mind having for display.

replacements to G1's instead of getting the real thing? NEVER!

I own all the G1 realistic KO's--they're incredible--HIGHLY recommend them. At the right price.

^ the right price is the factor.

If they were realistic to the price of a new toy, that would be one thing.

-a nice stand in

-something for parts

Fact is though, the jacked up rate trying to impose them as something more then a copy is a killer.

Sure I can pay alot for a boxed KO Mirage, but I'm more proud of the actual slightly scuffed one I have that isn't only complete, but also cost less.

I don't mind the scuffs. They add character and show history same as say a collectable revolver.

Ko's are never better than the originals.

Did you see the KO Meantime that they made into a working watch?

How the KO WST Starscream they made into Dirge, Ramjet and Sunstorm?

Did you see the oversized ROTF movie Legends Devastator?

Also, some toys are simply NOT available for a reasonable price, so for a Metrotitan or Classic Thundercracker, I turn to KOs.
