Consensus of Fragile Transformers

I'd say most of the `84-`85 line are candidates for a fragile TF list. Mirage is legendary for his breakable waist, I broke my Jazz the first time I transformed him, while using the instructions! When I owned G1 Jetfire, I was afraid to touch him because the weight of the metal made the plastic bend so it felt like it would break when I transformed it.

That on Fuzor that's a mix between a killer whale and an elephant has GPS on his blue sparkly plastic, especially on his tail. Fortunately it's a sucky toy, so it's not that big of a loss.

Alright, Ive got G1 Skyhammer, Roadblock and Thunderwing all coming to me soon....what are the the soft spots on these guys? Anyone who has these, have you any advice for me when I get ready to handle them?

Hmm... i didn't have this problem at all. I have the single owned originals from my childhood. they ahve been transformed dozens if not hundreds of times, and while a few joints are loose, I didn't have any breakage problems at all. In fact, I thought Jetfire was pretty darn strong. None of my G1's have any breakage issues.

I still have the beat up body of my first Jetfire.

Back in the day the arm did fall off but I was able to screw it right back in.

Beyond that it's survived abuse like you can't imagine and is still holding strong (set on fire 4 times)

in my experience...clear figures are very fragile...my clear RID sideburn especially...was transforming him and his hood just split....same with g1 ghost starscream...wings are totally fucked.....

I'm gonna get MP Ghost SS and I'm dreading having to tf him! God I hope he comes packaged in bot mode, that way I probably never will. But the MP seeker mold (esp MP3) has to be handled really carefully. MP Megs is even worse.

I've never actually broken any of these, but sometimes transforming them can feel like taking your life in your hands...

And yeah I broke a wing mirror off Alt Mirage. Only other TF I've broke was G1 Hook's hook back in the day.

SET ON FIRE?

I want to know this story.

*sits patiently*

The only two TF's I have with issues are from the Beast era. TM Megatron has a stripped screwhole on the bottom of the torso. So the bugger is now in two pieces. The other is a progressive-ish problem on BM dinobot Striker. the right side body panel had the connector break. the part not physically part of the "body" sheared off. I was able to super glue it back together, but it fell back apart when I tried to put the panel back on. Anyone got ideas for fixing my issues?

Do like I do with TM megatron. Keep the weapons and parts like that and look for a new cheap plain body.

Well, lighters, knives, and good firecrackers were always readily available to me as a kid.

Hell I had a second hand Voltron castle that I rigged with black cats and jumping jacks once. It would have been cool but I lit it off in my bedroom...

It wasn't until the collection I had before my current one(I gave that one to my nephews one year when my brother couldn't afford Christmas) I thought that maybe I shouldn't stab and burn these things.

Along with that Jetfire I have an Omnibot Override with a knifehole in his windshield from when I was a kid too.

I'm thankful for stores like Big Lots for their cheap KOs, it's a guilt free way to still get that destructive fix. Every now and then I'll head there and look sadly at the bag I just bought knowing those bots aren't long for this world...
