When You Finally Find Your Toy

Recommended Posts

I only use a shopping cart in June. Otherwise I'm fine with a hand basket.

I will admit that when I find a figure I've been hunting I get a bit of a spring to my step. Otherwise I just take my figure, pay for it, go home put the dog outside, and open it in peace.

Thats about it, if I have any rituual, it would be pawning off the reason for the purchase on my nephews to wayward onlookers.

With all of the collectors on various forums all posting sightings from all over the country, it's probably rather rare for people to get the opportunity to score a first sighting of a new figure. I've been lucky enough to enjoy that feeling on more than a few occasions now.

Coming across a figure you've been looking for for a long time and couldn't find is a really great feeling by itself.

But...When you come up to the aisle and see a whole bunch of figs you never even knew were out yet and most certainly were not expecting to find? PRICELESS! Of course, it could be a really, REALLY painful thing if you're the first to find them and you're broke.

I had the first sighting on Universe/Classics deluxe figs and I think anyone around who would have seen me that day would have said I had a full blown fangasm right there in the aisle. It doesn't matter who or what is around me at the time, because I don't even know they're there once I get that figure in my hand, I'm just lost in a zone. So I imagine I've looked like a complete freak nut on more occasions than I know.

Of course, I've come across lots of people who were curious and just had to ask. I have no problem taking a few minutes to chat it up with someone. Helped lots of parents and grandparents make some gift buying decisions over the years as well.

Funny though, cuz at some point later there is almost the same effect one might have coming down from a massive sugar and caffeine rush. That's when it's time to buy a repaint. It's kinda like drinking another beer right away in the morning to make the hangover effects go away.

@ Liege, I totally use the "Im buying all these for my nephew/lil cousin" too lol.

"I'll get these kids whatever they want so long as they do good in school"

Funny part is, when my nephews where little they would just sit and stare pissed off cause I'd never let them touch a thing :P

lol yeah, i dont know how much of my collection was purchased "for my nephew". the little guy is only 3, so hes not touching masterpeice skywarp quite yet. however, i will buy him bumper battlers and an activator every so often.

haha. yeah. that's most definitely the same kind of hunting story i have. I even got so excited when I found NEST Ratchet and Brawn the other day that I must have really freaked out the Target stock guy who had just put them out--and I'm in my mid-20s, too. The only time I feel really silly is if I'm freaking out when some girls my age pass the toy isle and give me that "what the hell?" look. Ah, well, some people just don't understand :D
