MP Grimlock

Recommended Posts

I am curious about something from MP Collectors...

what do you see as the value in getting MP Grimlock if he is released by Hasbro as a US release, if there is not any real changes from the Takara version?

I realize there is the "PRICE" - but that is why to choose one over the other if you don't already have he Takara version.

What i'm asking is if you already have the MP one - why get the US MP version? When it comes to the screamers, there was the difference in paint - the US versions were G1, while takara was not. It's a difference worth noting.

How could Grimlock be released that would make him different AND WORTH getting him in this version as well - as an MP collector who already has the takara version??

I would garner a wager that the Takara version will use better plastic and have better quality control than the Hasbro version. Just ask anyone else who has the US and Takara versions (Prime, Starscream, etc)

I don't think there is anything that Hasbro could do to MP Grimlock that would be positive.

hence, the lower cost as well.

however, the G1 colors of the US MP version of SS make him attractive to an MP collector.

I'm just curious what they could possibly do to Grimlock to make him attractive to someone who already has the Takara version at this point. Is there any likely value to be had at all? Or is it likely just a cheaper version for those that don't have the imported version.

The only way I'll buy another Grimlock is if they did a blue G2 version, which Hasbro wouldn't do. My guess is they would remove all his superfluous accessories and maybe throw in the crown from Takara's comic version.

Have MP grimlock and very happy with it. (And since importing a store exclusive from the USA is about the same price as buying the original release from Japan, the price is also not a factor.)

I must honestly admit that I can't really see any way that Hasbro could make their release attractive to me. Well, if he's very (VERY) cheap then I might pick up as a spare or for kitbash purpose :P. But I can't think of any accesoires or different colors that could make me interested. Not even if they decided to release him in those comic colors with crown and other stuff like that Takara exclusive version.

I was thinking with the MPs to leave the US versions MSIB since the Takara boxes are repackable.

I have 20th Prime and Walmart Starscream MSIB, so maybe I'll pick up Skywarp to and add to that. When MP Grimlock comes here, I may just forgoe the Takara version and get 2.

IF Hasbro was to release him in comic colors, or something VERY similar to the Takara comic version, I might be tempted to get one just so I could have two to keep in both modes, but that's a pretty big if... And it would have to be a lot easier to get than Walscream or else I'm not even going to bother.

Usually I prefer the Takara versions of everything, but to be fair, the Hasbro version of MP Starscream was better than Takara's "Greenscream." It featured better plastic and G1 colours.

I don't see the point in having more than one version of MP Grimlock. I skipped the Takara versions because I think they're overpriced. I'm hoping that the Hasbro version will make its way down under for a comparable price. Yeah, I'm making a gamble on Hasbro; doesn't sound smart, but MP Grimlock came out around the time my daughter was born, so money was tight for me.

If Hasbro's Grimlock turns out to be inferior I'll get it on discount. :P

Has it been announced that Hasbro is doing an MP Grimlock, or are we speculating?

Just wondering if I missed the announcement. I'm toying with the idea of getting the Takara one, but if Hasbro will be doing one as well that will totally change my thinking.
