ROTF Rip Off, missing/altered dialogue & sfx

Recommended Posts

So I got ROTF and finished watching it. There were some noticeable differences. "GIVE ME YOUR FACE" is no longer said in the film. Likewise I feel like some of the scenes are quieter and missing SFX. Thanx to Taaron for the heads up and the pic, mine too says this on it. Be very careful when you buy this. Movies are an art form, they shouldn't be changed after they are released in theaters, it'd be like making a painting, selling it, then painting some more on it just before you deliver it to the buyer. Fucking garbage piece of shit I'm pissed!

Glad I didn't pay for it. FUCK YOU BAY!

Proof on Attachment.

Note: its just above the PG-13 rating. AARARHGHGHF:EWFNERF:!! THIS MOVIE IS MORE OF A RIP OFF THEN RAMPAGE'S FIGURE:WNF:!@NGF:!!!N

Did they fix Soundwave's voice though?

Did they fix Soundwave's voice though?

No, he sounds exactly the same. And actually, if you take notice, they reuse the same scene of him TWICE! TWIIIICE!!! The first time he boots up and his maw expands as he speaks, then the camera floats above him to show him from the back looking down on Earth. That scene is used twice. Fucking laziness.

And I get that there is a lot of Constructicon clones but get this. Soundwave signals for all of them to plummet from orbit, in France and at the Aircraft carrier. But Mixmaster is clearly seen on top of a bridge in the USA (New York I think), slapping away the flag BEFORE the rest are called to Earth.

THEN, when the battle at Egypt starts, a DIFFERENT set of protoforms crashes to Egypt. Where the hell did all those other Decepticons go? I find it hard to believe that they just re-protoformed and shot back into space, only to re-fall back to Egypt. They can't transwarp (because they didnt do that at all in the first place) and I doubt a bunch of Construction vehicles can get from France to Egypt without raising a few eyebrows. Hey theres a 3000 ton dumptruck driving down the street, its bigger then the road itself but I'm going to assume thats normal. I guess they all are just hanging out in France and the bottom of the ocean, eating crumpets and flicking crabs around. I got a better idea, lets just do a bunch of stuff, and then we'll hastily paste it together to form a terrible motion picture and cash in! Im just so pissed right now!

I hate this movie even more now. The inconsistencies are even worse the second time you view it.

In my opinion, that's just laziness if they left out the vocoder effect for Soundwaves voice. I am going to pick up the Target Bumblebbe package exclusive and download the IMAX Walmart version instead. I already have the DVD rip that came out a few weeks ago and if I remember correctly, the "Give me your face" line was still intact.

^^^I don't know if it's all releases. Mine was a Kmart and the copy shown in the picture is from Walmart, what version I don't know. Regardless I'd advise anyone getting ready to plop down hard earned dollars for this to take a look at the back of the case before they do. Unless you don't mind the missing sfx, which I'm sure some won't. But to me even changing it a little bit after it's theatrical release is just plain wrong.

What if they went back and took "One Shall Stand, One Shall Fall" out of the 85 movie? Or any line for that matter? It's just wrong is what it is, and now I'm going to bed. Hopefully forever. Then those after me can say that yes, I was killed by watching a movie.

I just noticed this on the packaging. I wonder what their reasoning is for this. Might be an interesting Burning Question :schin

I have the walmart version and the give me your face line was in there on mine, however on mine you can barely hear devastator shout his name it was like a wisper.

Actually Breaker, the '86 movie was edited for video release. Among the edits was the removal of the phrase "Oh S***!" spoken by Spike after he and Bumblebee failed to stop Unicron. Several movies have had changes made to them after their original releases. The Star Wars saga, Blade Runner, the Highlander movies, and others. You have Director's cuts, "Special Editions", you name it. These changes are usually attempts by the directors and creators to "finish" their films the way they intended them to be but couldn't originally accomplish for one reason or another either because the technology wasn't there, time constraints, or any number of reasons. George Lucas quoted I believe Cecil B. DeMill saying, "Films are never completed, only abandoned." He went back and "completed" his films with his Special Editions of the SW trilogy. IT's not all that uncommon. Also, at least in the past, it wasn't all that out of the ordinary for different regions to have somewhat different audio tracks for the same movie. This too was the case with the original SW movies. As such, a few dialog changes between the theatrical version of RotF and the DVD release isn't that big of a deal to me. It's not that surprising.

The removal of the statement, "Give me your face!" could have been a result of fan complaints about the statement being too out of character for Prime. I'm curious if they fixed the statements about the number of Original Primes back to Thirteen as it should have been in the first place.

They did. For years the pair of swears in the 1986 animated movie were AWOL from the home versions, including the offical relased VHS. They weren't readded again until the first DVD release.

Plenty of movies get minor changes in their home releases though, so I don't see why it's a huge deal. Star Wars and Blade Runner must give you fits though, eh? :tflaugh

I'm going to be a lot more ticked off by inferior quality control (missing SFX and the like) than a few minor dialogue changes I probably won't notice..
