Sideswipe Alt. Transformation

Recommended Posts

after seeing Kumtoshi's "geewun" style transformation i decided to post pics of my sideswipe in a "geewun"/retro transformation hiding the doors. i know that there is that classic mod where you make the rear end of the figure its chest but i didnt want mine looking like everyone elses i liked its tranformation but i wanted to hide its doors... well here it is! there is no modification needed and you still get to transform it back n forth... because of where the doors are tucked away it limits sideswipes movement to only that. is ther anyone else that transforms him like this?

That looks good, I'll have to try that. Do the arms still move freely?

It is a much better modification for Sideswipe. I don't know why people think having the car's rear end as his chest is a good idea.

Well, mostly 'cause it looks better. ;)

Better idea... try asking HasTak why it was a good idea to use the front end as the feet, instead of the rear end like the G1, since they are going for a G1 feel with this line? Then we Pseudo-kitbashers could be using the hood as the chest, like it's supposed to be, rather than the trunk lid. IMO, either would look better than the frigging windshield. Save that for Ironhide, but let's not forget his head this time, okay?

P.S. - ignoring my rant defending the trunk/chest mod, yes, hiding the doors like that looks cool as well, but it does take the look even farther away from the G1 toy, which had the doors solidly mounted to the arms. The way I look at it, if you spent your money on an Alt or BT, you bought the right to transform it or customise it however you please.

P.P.S. - Yes, I know the toy of Ironhide came before the cartoon, and was a Diaclone piloted vehicle, and wasn't supposed to have a face, blah, blah, blah. The sticker for a face idea was still bad. They should have redesigned a toy closer to the cartoon charachter. That was 20 years ago though... they're forgiven, but now it's time to fix the mistake. And not like Energon Ironhide, either. That's the other extreme. Yes, he needs a head, but NOT IN VEHICLE MODE!!!

P.P.P.S. - If there's anyone I haven't offended yet, umm... Beast Wars was stupid. There, that should about do it. :thumb

G1 Sideswipe specifics aside, it's not like the rear end and the windshield weren't used as the torso in early G1. Camshaft's chest was his ass. Wheeljack, Tracks, and Downshift were all early releases and used the windshield in the torso and the front ends were legs/feet. It's something you realize, get over, and appreciate that we have them period.

No, no, no... Everything from P.P.S. on was self-sarcastic, as I realized that the more I had elaborated, the more I may have offended people... With the exception of Optimus Primal, who I've seen on shelves lately in the "Universe" line, I have absolutely NO experience with Beast Wars whatsoever, and therefore no opinion, either. (Primal does look cool, but with no knowledge of the show/storyline, I don't see much of a point. I have the same opinion of the G1 Dinobots... why even have a robot mode if the "vehicle" mode is just that of a more powerful creature? But I won't digress, on grounds of possibly offending Dinobot fans, too. I like the dinobots. Don't misunderstand.) the P.P.S. part about Ironhide was because I had just read another string on Diaclone complaining about all the people who complain about Ironhide toy vs. cartoon charachter. The P.P.P.S. part was just pure witty sarcasm. Like there isn't enough of that on message boards already, right?

Hmm... reminds me of the bumper sticker... "Arguing on the internet is like the Special Olympics: wether you win or lose, you're still retarted." Poor taste, but with a vein of truth as well... :tard

All I was doing was defending the trunk-as-a-chestplate mod for this toy in particular. I have already "gotten over it" and by the way, don't forget Bumblebee, Sunstreaker, Cliffjumper, hell, even Seaspray and Warpath, if you want to push it a bit, all having the front-end-as-feet transformation. I do appreciate having them period, just like the live action movie, megatron as a handgun or not. I'll be there to see it on opening night, wether Megs is a gun, a tank, or a Ford Taurus. It doesn't matter, it's Transformers. However, I have yet to see even one press release from Hasbro or Takara saying "We're tired of you all Starscreaming about our designs on the internet, so we're recalling every Transformers toy ever released from 1980 to present. If you want transforming toys now, go buy Power Ranger Zords, you ungrateful bastards." And until I do, I say that everyone who has the inkling to do so should continue to express thier own opinions, good or bad. Isn't that what the internet is for? Well, that, and porn? :tflaugh

Thanks for the pics and sharing your ideas with us Dsrtek.

I too have had much fun playing with various TF forms for Sideswipe. You know, these things are like clothes, we can 'wear' em like we like. It's almost like personalized versions of TFormers; each of us has our own 'way' of doing it.

Fantastic if you ask me. To that respect, I dig it Dsrtek!

...Guess what I did to mine though?!!! Hee-hee. I removed the pin holding the hood on to make it removable and made a mount to hang it off his back/use as a shield-but still allow full uninhibited transformation. But I think it looks awesome and that's all that matters because when it comes down to it, I'm the only one who gives a @#$(*& with regards to who'll physically be in my house, standing in front of Swipes, and looking at it! Ha! Actually, among my friends, I'm the only one who collects TFs and they all don't know what the proper way is anyways and they just think it's the cats meow.

If I post pics, people will probably bombard it with hate mail though. Too bad...

Don't be puttin on the hate yo!

KT

It looks good (WAY better than that awful "alternate" transformation some people use...), but the doors were still visiblein the G1 toy... just on his sides. It's actually easy enough to do this on the Alt, as well, and it looks alright.

I really like yours, though... I may use it on Dead End just to make him look a bit different (if I ever find one, that is!).
