Revenge of the Fallen, taking a second look

Recommended Posts

Lose ends, common the movie had deeper holes than the grand connyon, and I shouldn't have to read a novel just to find out what was suppose to happen in a movie....

Something else I'm wondering about... Did it show what happened to the Matrix? IIRC, it was still in the sun eater when Prime shot and destroyed it. Is there a chance the Matrix survived?

Yes. No. Maybe? I think they left it vague to keep their sequel options open: Everything kind of went "KABOOM" and they forgot about it. Yet another one of the bazillion loose ends they didn't feel like tying up at the end.

I don't mind some loose ends in movies. It leaves it up to your imagination.

According the the novelization, it survived, and is currently stored inside Prime's hip. —Matrix of Leadership

Ye gods - it's stored in his hip?

I throw my hands up. I actually cannot tell anymore if the people involved in this adaptation are lazy, or purposefully attempting to distance themselves from the source material they are adapting, or some fiendish combination of both...

I don't know specifically why Alan Dean Foster (the author of the novelization) decided to have Optimus lodge the Matrix in his hip, instead of placing it in his chest, but I can theorize. It's possible the reason is because of Prime's configuration of his chest, as it's designed in the movie. There simply might not be enough room given the shape of the Matrix in this reality. That, and Prime's chest is far more flexible than his previous incarnations in other realities, and placing the Matrix there could cause internal injury as the chest flexes around it. The hip and thigh, however, appears to have more room to fit an object of that particular shape. It's also a single inflexible mass (below the actual joint anyway). Thus, it was probably a matter of practicality. Who knows?

Spike: Darn it optimus why want you start...

OP: I lost my matrix, I think I left it in my trailor add on at home.

Spike: Don't worry I called AAA they are bringing a replacement..

Maybe he meant to say hip pocket. That's where most people put there keys, and in the movie the Matrix is a key...

:)

Well, he isn't wearing pants, so he wouldn't have actual "pockets", but it's likely that he does have a compartment inside his hip and thigh.

Yay for missing blatant attempts at humour!

The twins claim they cant read but they have stickers all over their icecream truck form that are in english meaning they can read, just not their own language, also wheels/wheelie couldn't read cybertronian either, while arcee has a cybertronian glyph just to the right of her windshield.

Of course they can't read their own language. And it's not that they can't read at all (books, etc) it's that they choose not to. They're ignorant and blissfully so. And as for the Cybertronian symbols on their bodies... tattoos. That's it. That's all there is to it. Tribal tattoos.

Well, don't forget, the language is the Language of the Primes, which is ancient Cybertronian which only a select few can read (The ancient Primes, The Fallen, Jetfire (or any other Seeker), and I speculate that Prime probably could since he's a descendant). Wheelie couldn't read it and he's clearly "older" and more well read than the twins.

Umm, just out of curiosity but wouldn't they only need to just download the program to read it? And what was it that Jetfire really translated. I guess I just remember them going to JF to translate stuff but he never actually does....

No, because they aren't like Earth machines. Transformers learn, they're not "programmed", like an Earth computer. They can learn very, very fast though. Like masterminicon said, the language that the glyphs were in was Ancient Cybetronian, the language of the Primes. It's essentially a dead language. In Defiance, it wasn't until the discovery of the ancient sarcophagi of the Original Thirteen that they even identified the glyph on the side of Optimus' helmet as identifying him as a Prime. Even he didn't know what it meant.

"That there nut joke wus funny. Did you see em two dogs hummp'n they should show dat again."

I honestly think that if the devastator scrotum was the only nut joke in the movie it would have been hularious!!! but by the time they get to it there were so many it just annoyed me...
