I know it's somewhat limited with the turnout so far, but nevertheless interesting results we're seeing. Looks like overall, those who loved it & those who thought it was above average are about equal, while the average-to-poor make up roughly a quarter of the votes. You could also look at this as 3 out of 5 thought it was below excellent...or 4 out of 5 thought it was better than average...depending on how you want to combine overall numbers.

Breaking down the demographics is a bit of a different story. Like RomXXII said, the 24 - 32 range is definitely the most polarized...that would definitely be interesting to see that age group broken in half...who knows though, it might still break right down the line with both. Whatever the case, the poll verifies that they're the most engaged in this topic!

The oddest area of this poll is the results of the youngest and oldest groups. It appears that the 23 and under crowd are more unified in primarily liking it, with the 33 or older range in close...agreement? While it's apparent that the younger group definitely liked it better than the older group, I wouldn't have expected these results to be that close. This could be a result of a number of factors...the first one that comes to mind is the low turnout. Perhaps this will appear clearer with more votes...so...

*bumped* for more data :)

If you havn't voted - take a quick second. It's not like it requires more time, like voting for a president. Ok, bad example. :-p

Am approaching 24 soon and I admit I have totally no memory of the the G1 series... well, I do remember the theme song, at least that is not that bad. I would say I like the movie overall, minus some, uh, parts.

wow, look, my first post in this community. :)

*voted*

23 and under -- generally single, school or college aged; not G1 generation

24 - 32 -- generally live on their own; married, still young; working; changing social network

33 and older -- usually married with kids by now; more experienced in life; the G1 generation

I fit into the 24-32 group, more towards the elder end mind you, but G1 Transformers were my childhood completely; cartoons, comics, and most obviously the toys.

My vote was for 3 or less. It was better than the first, but still completely lacking in what it takes to make a good movie. At least there was a semblance of plot this time around. I don't expect G1 out of it at all, I was just hoping for some decent story-telling. I wasn't hoping for an Oscar-worthy, thought-provoking, life-changing movie, but definitely more than we got. It was fun in some respects, but again, just too little.

the 24-32 group is 'extremely' polarized - either 5 starred it.. or 3 or lessed it... why does it not surprise me your near the upper end of that group, and gave it a lower mark? I would tend to bet that most of the 5 stars are on the younger half and visa versa. interesting.

I'm trying to figure out if the polarizing factor is the G1 Sunbow TV series(which was re-syndicated as Transformers:Generation 2 back in the early 90's anyway) or if it's the 1986 The Transformers: The Movie that's causing the polarization.

So my question to the 24-32 group is, if you voted "ROTF Good," did you even get to watch the very very first Transformers movie?

I think the polarization is simply age. The younger crowd is more easily pleased and doesn't expect as much. The forest scene alone covers nearly 2 hours of horrible writing, character developement and flaws.

I can't speak for the rest of the older crowd, but I went into the movie hoping for the best. What I got fell short of what I would call 'the best.' One fight scene--that isn't better than at least one other fight sequence in the Bayverse continuity (the Bonecrusher/Prime '07 pier-six brawl on the freeway gets my vote) simply cannot make up for the for the other 2 some-odd hours of unwashed shite on basis of the fact that a) without proper character developement, you don't care about any of the characters involved, b) without properly establishing your primary antagonists and making them seem like credible threats, you don't have a sense of danger or excitement, and a scene loses its edge and the protaganist--both primary and otherwise lose credibility as well and c) there's no fast forward button in the movie theater...so whatever Edgar Allen Poe-inspired horrors the movies' got waiting for you will quickly dilute the thrill of a fight scene, however great.
