There are a bunch of threads.. and enormously long threads.. discussing the good, the bad, and the ugly. This thread is not necessarily for lengthy discussions, but meant to be a graphic representation of how most feel about the new movie. Feel free to state your opinion if you wish, but this thread is meant to be a demographic analysis on how you thought the movie did OVERALL.

Please vote within your own demographic...

On a 5 point/star rating.. how do you feel the movie was overall?

5 -- awesome - perfect - very difficult to top

4 -- great movie - could have been better in areas but overall very entertaining

3 -- average movie - some good - some bad - worth seeing

*note - why the demographics broken down as they were... only wanted 3 groups.. different social groups usually have different views on humor; social relationships; and movies in general.

23 and under -- generally single, school or college aged; not G1 generation

24 - 32 -- generally live on their own; married, still young; working; changing social network

33 and older -- usually married with kids by now; more experienced in life; the G1 generation

Lets see how the movie is playing out right here on the TFormers Commuity! :)

Ummm, just out of curiosity why did you not add anything below 3 stars or anything like the movies not worth seeing?

well, i figured that most people on a TF Board would not give the movie a 1 or 2 stars. I also didn't want to make the options TOO long, where they didn't fit easily on the screen. As you can see - there are 15 options as it is, since I included demographics. So I figured 3 "AND UNDER" would be the lowest I used. "IF" I saw that there were a lot of options in that area -- then i'd probably redo it again.

For all the talk about people that 'love it' and 'like it, but are disappointed' -- i just wanted to see a POLL (graphic illustration) of how these results actually show up. I have a feeling that demographics will play a part in it as well. I'm just curious as weget more towards 50 and 70 people voting, what type of bell-curve it will show. I hope I answered your question.

I just hope people will answer this more honest and accurate than the general poll on TFormers main page...that one's being skewd by the hour!

I peosonally would advise people to wait and see it on DVD just because they would not have to watch the whole thing once they realized it was a giant robot movie and not a TF movie. But that My opinion. And I guess I do understand why you limited the options. I do like that you posted different demographics. But I think your age groups are a little off.

I'd agree...I think you've covered the oldest of us fine...but there should be more variation with all the teens. 24-32 is a pretty broad range as well...my perspective on life changed a lot for me from 25 to 30. :shrug

Yea, I agree - i knew I wouldn't get it right and make EVERYONE happy. I started not to put my rational down at all - whenever you do - you leave it open for debate. LOL My first draft was actually 18 and under. There is a difference from 18 and those 24 and under (ie, living at home - and college age) - however, as I did the different demographics -- there is far more similiarities between teens and college kids (ie, both still not generally independant) than there were in other age brackets. The main rason I didn't break it up differently - is I didn't want to get more than 3 groups. So I was shooting for "non-independants" (Youth); "independant/youth" (middle); and "supports dependants/family" (older). It's a very BROAD range, I agree - but I think the breakdown I did covers those. There could definately be sub-demographics within them - i agree. Unfortunately the grant money I got fromt he gov't to do this research project only allowed so many categories. :-p LOL (joke)

I have to admit... SO FAR.. i am a bit surprised there is not more 5 stars from the first group - and that there are so many from the middle group. I would not have expected to see that. I thought most of the 5 stars would have been the youngest group.

IN FACT, if you look at the middle demographic, so far - it is the complete OPPOSITE of a bell curve -- showing more people in this age group either loved it or hated it (loosely) - not a lot of middle range. Not what I expected at all.

Hopefully, eventually, we'll get 50-70 people putting in their votes, and get a more accurate look at how the TF Community views the movie. I much prefer a graphic representation like this, than a 40 page dialogue to read thru - LOL.

^ I hear ya on your last sentence! Also, love your 'government grant' humor...thought this was stimulus funded! :D

Just guessing, but I think you're probably seeing the most activity on the 24-32 age range, b/c that seems to be the area of most disagreement! I think you'd probably start seeing the predictable bell curve if this were divided between teens, 20's & 30's. I appreciate the fact that you're trying to take a look at this scientifically though. :thumb

no joke... the middle ground is VERY love it.. hate it... so far.. and the more we get, the more that is showing up.

starting to emerge, that the younger ground generally likes it more.. with the older crowd not liking it 'as much'.. with both of those demographics being a tad more consistant in that realm. Very interesting.

You could be very right - that the love it / hate it of the middle ground could be the age extremes in that group also.

Conclusion being (if right, in the most general sense) the younger you are, the more you liked it - the older you are - the less you did. That would play very well into the 'potty' humor aspect (immaturity) and idea that a younger audience is easier to please - more tolerance of the WWF/mech-warrior/just give me a little action at the expense of substance aspects.

Lets see how it looks once we get 50++ votes in.

4.5 - The movie was a lot of fun, but it lost a bit because of the excessive pointless screen time of Skids & Mudflap, or as I like to call them, Tweedledee & Tweedledum.

weird. My demographic seems to be the most polarized. younger and older generally liked it, it seems.

edit for stupidity:

Finally dawned on me that the 24-32 demographic may not be an accurate representation, considering that 28-32 would be the appropriate age for those who saw the G1 Sunbow cartoons, while 27 below might've been too young. Might explain the high polarization for this bracket.

Yes, I might end up having to break that demographic down indeed. I find it amazing the extremely "love it" or "hate it" polarization of that group. The older and younger crowd seem almost the same -- altho the younger crowd is starting to go more towards the 'love it' expected stereotype.

If, as some are expecting, the middle demographic is seperated into the "love it" are younger, and the "hate it" are older -- it will indeed be further evidence towards the film attracting the more immature audience who enjoys the 'beavus/butt-head' humor and are more easily entertained, while the older crowd loves the fact it's a TFers movie, but is very disappointed in it.
