ROTF : Leader Megatron (with new arms by frenzy_rumble

Revenge of the Fallen Leader Class Megatron custom Transformer. 2 major mods on this custom. Megatron's left arm was a little...small. It was replaced with a ratcheting arm with more bulk, and ROTF hand then attached to it's end. This arm stores up top, under the tank canon turret. His larger arm, a tightly fit and snug ball joint was added at the elbow, allowing free range and articulation in that arm. He was primed with black fusion, then coated with house of kolorz gloss black, followed by a layer of alclad. Next came some washed and dry brushing, about 14 different shades of silver and rust. Detailed with copper, gold and brass. Finally, washed with Tamiya clear "smoke"I wanted to give the metal a tarnished and worn look. The "cracked" metal look was achieved by air brushing clear coats over wet paint, then flattened down with a stiff brush. Also, etched in Cybertronian symbols in random spots with a dremel "engraving" attachment.

Very very nice. Can't wait to see Prime.

AHHH! You're killing me here man!

Excellent work! Between the weathering/details and that much, MUCH better left arm, this makes me want Megatron now. :thumb

Megatron's an ugly mofe, but you made him a thing of beauty. Excellent work as always.

The left arm looks much better. :thumb

What's it from?

Destroy the Witwicky child Megatron. Seriously though he looks good almost enough for a purchase.

Thought so, but wasn't since since I don't own the first movie Leader class Megatron. :shrug

frenzy_rumble, I just tried to switch the left arms on my leader class Megatrons. When I took out both of the screws from my 2007 Megatron, the shoulder still wouldn't come apart. Is there something else you had to do to get the arm off? I don't want to risk breaking it... (I don't want to pick up another leader class Megatron so I'd like to be able to freely switch the arms back and forth.)

Thanks!

from what I recall, there's a bit of glue in there, just use a thin sharp screwdriver or (if you're careful) an x-acto blade to pry it until the glue gives.

Amazing work, could you do a tutorial on installing the balljoint in the canon arm? How would you glue it into a hollow arm and still retain movement?
