Mod for Binaltech Tracks

I think there may have been a slight bump or something, possibly from where the screw made its initial thread through that assembly, which made the initial twist really tight. Once you do the initial twist, you'll be able to see the hole where the screw went through. It kinda clicks in and out when you twist it back into place, but it is a swivel joint nonetheless.

Does that help any?

Forgot to mention, if anyone has done the mod and has better photography skills than me, could you post a pic of your mod? I'd like to see how others 'store' the doors. Remy, you have a Tracks you could spare and do an awesome photo set? = )

I do like the look of this mod. Other mods I've seen didn't appeal to me, but I definitely think this is an improvement in robot mode. However, I don't thnk I'll be taking apart my precious BT Tracks. Cost me $90 NZ, and he's one of my favorite TF's. Plus, I don't like the idea of having to pop off the doors at all. Nice work though.

Question to you kumtoshi.

I did everything according to your pictures, removed the hidden screw and put him back together and the windshield and doors don't seem to want to rotate. I'm not trying incredibly hard because I don't want to break anything...but it just doesn't seem to want to rotate. It's definitely looser(moves a little back and forth) without the hidden screw in there...but doesn't swing around.

Any clues?

HI GUYS THIS IS MY FIRST POST HERE SUCH AN AWESOME FORUM :wave I JUST DID THE TRACKS MOD AND IT WAS EASY TO DO AND NOW HE IS EVEN SWEETER THAN BEFORE.BRAVO :clap JUST MOVE THAT DASHBOARD BACK AND FORTH AND BE PATIENT IT WILL ROTATE.......... :thumb

Dear Brainreese,

KT here. Check my post from Oct 2; just a couple posts above. I really think the issue is that during manufacturing, the screw pushing through the hole causes some plastic to protrude up causing the resistance you're feeling. Man that sounded really bad... HAA-HAA!!!

But you get the drift I hope.

It WILL rotate because the windshield/dashboard unit is on essentially (not intentionally...or was it...???) a swivel joint the way the 2 pieces are held together.

You will have to slightly lift one side over the stick shift just a mm or so. Doesn't harm it at all.

Jessiedart69: Don't you think it looks great?! The pics I have with the doors angled up and slightly backwards don't turn out good in pics, but believe me, it looks clean and intended when you've got the thing in your hand/on your shelf. Even from behind/sideways, it's TRACKS! man.

KT, this mod looks very awesome and the only thing preventing me from doing it is that a door must be removed for transformation. Do you really have to remove a door? It appears you could simply work it through between the steering wheel and the seats. Is this possible? Thanks for the great instructions and pics!!

its looks much better but i dear not mess with my £35 BT tracks for fear of damige

1TransFan,

You know, the 1st time I swiveled the windshield unit, I kind of remember not having to remove a door. But every time I've done the transform since, I can't get the door in between the seats and steering wheel. Wierd. I've only TF'd him like 4 times total so I haven't gone back and really tried every possible way. The doors do fold a lot more one way than the other due to the way the door's socket is shaped and I think it may have had something to do with that.

If someone has done the mod though and has good photo skills, I'd love to see some good Remy-style pics!

KT

I just finished Moding my Alt track, and I must say, it looks totally awesome. One thing I noticed is that you have to be very careful getting to the last screw. I almost broke mine trying to rotate the upper body enough to find it.
