Mod for Binaltech Tracks

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone:

Just a quick mod tip for anyone else who finds BT/ALT Tracks doors/windshield to be too bulky in robot mode.

Basically, it allows a better compact configuration of the windshield/doors to allow the legs more clearance. Also, looks less clutterd around his body IMO.

To do the mod,

1. Remove the 4 chest screws.

2. Carefully 'pop' the exhaust off with a small flat head screwdriver. This is basically held in there with the same pegs as Smoke's/Meister's gun.

3. Remove the smaller screw underneath exhaust.

4. Remove chairs/back window unit.

5. Now, you can basically separate the 2 halves (upper & lower or front & back; however you want to look at it) of the center torso.

6. This reveals a screw underneath the steering wheel/doors unit. Remove this screw-same size as the one in Step 3.

7. Put everything back together (5 screws--4 big chest ones and the small one underneath the exhaust--you'll have the one screw left over from Step 6 which allows rotating the steering wheel/windshield/doors unit). In my case, the head and arms fell off, but easily placed back in; no small pieces/springs etc. will come flying out into oblivion so don't worry. Sounds much scarier than it actually is.

8. Now when Tracks is in robot mode, you can rotate the steering wheel/windshield/doors unit 180 degrees to allow the windsheild to fold up against the back window--care must be taken to rotate the unit over the stick shift though. The way the windshield folds up though, makes you wonder if this was originally intended.

9. Not sure what to do with the doors, but I've put them up along his sides/back which gives a really cool 'backpack/jetpack' look and closes up gaps. Also, this makes less clutter around his legs and looks like less bulk hanging off him.

Sorry for no pics; give me an email address for anyone who can post them here and I'll shoot them over to you. Then everyone can see for yourselves. Anyone who has Tracks already can imagine the mod themselves; looks VERY cool! Don't worry, it's not like the Sideswipe mod; no permanent damage; just a left over screw which you'll no longer need because you may like the new scheme better!

Anyways, a tip from a fellow TF who has lots of fun with our hobby!

A question I have is, can the seats fold down like all the other BT and ATs? Also with your mod can the front windshield still be folded under the back windshield? Looks great I'd be scared to take mine apart though.

hey what do you think of DeadEnds Trunk, it almost looks like was was ment to open, have you tried moding that yet?
