Alternators' Build Quality

Recommended Posts

The only "wheel-to-ground" problems any of my Alts ever had were Swipe and Smokes, because the front-end wasn't aligned properly, so either both front and one rear were one the ground, or both rear and one front.

Once I figured out why the halves of the front weren't lining up and adjusted it, all four wheels touched down just fine.

So far, all five of my Alts are of great quality, and I'm quite happy with them. :thumb

make sure you have that black post snapped into the bottom, and the wheels will move freely, there's a little groove for the post but it doesn't always go in just right. And I don't have any problem with sideswipe's body panels lining up, just have to transform him right.

Sideswipe was my first Alt and I think he's great. Never had that problem. I usually find if there are any problems like that you haven't quite transformed him right. I used to have an issue with Smokescreens bonnet not closing properly. but I moved his hadns around so his thumbs weren't taking up room in the engine bay, and now, no more problem.

As far as quality is concerned, I think it varies in Alt's. I only have 1 Binaltech, Tracks, and all the alts up to Meister. There's no doubt that the BT's look prettier, and feel solid, but I agree that they're easy to chip. Got a couple of little chips on Tracks already. Plus, there's only a small amount of die-cast, with Tracks, everything is plastic except the front bonnet end panels.

The quality in Alts goes from reasonable with Side's and Smoke's, to extremely good with 'Streak and Hound, back to reasonable with Dead End, and dangerously low with Meister. I was amazed with the quality of Alt 'streak and Hound. Exceptional paint work and they look look almost as good as BT's.

Meister is easily the worst quality Alt so far, although the mold itself is great. Very nice to Transform, but crappy thin plastic, and lots of pop-offs. If you get one BT, better make it Meister.

I've had the Sideswipe rear wheel problem, but a quick twist solves that. It's just a simple malalignment when transforming back to vehicle mode.

Yes, you heard me, twist. Grab the front and back, and gently twist a few degrees to either side until all four wheels touch the surface of whatever. This lets several components "click" together and settle into their proper position.

Alternatively, just squeeze the rear wheels together so they're angled downward a little.

Now that I think of it, his trunk hinge might be the cause of the problem. I can hear it griding against my desk as I roll mine.

Twisting's always a winner with Alts.

My hood won't stay closed on my Dead End no matter how tight I transform it but it still rolls.

Did you try pressing down on the front and back end of the hood? The hood on my 'Swipe isn't exacly flush (it pops up a little on the driver side), but it stays down.

Are you also sure Dead End is obeying gravity? The hood should stay closed because there's nothing to keep it open...

Yes the little poll thing on the bottom of the car is keeping the wheels from touching the ground. It came like that out of the package before I ever transformed it.

I did try to twist it but then when the back wheels hit the ground, the front right would pop up :redface

Eventually I got all 4s on the ground but it wouldn't stay like that. I soon as I touch it, it would go back. I will now try to transform it into car mode properly.

the hood thing is simple... on the bottom of both side and dead end a piece comes thru that is connected directly to the windshield, It where I begin to transform them, Push the piece up and the wind shield will raise, open the hood all the way and then push down, the hinge on the hood will fold and allow for a tighter closed position, then push the winshield back down and the hood should fit tightly and stay closed.

the only thing I dont like about this mold is the dead end figure and the post for the doors - where they connect to the rear wheels you can only rotate the door and door sill thing in one direction and to me it seems like you have to rotate it all the way around to get it into the right location, but I really like the "dangling" hood / hood the front transformation, Dead end looks like a Samuri soldier...

but his ankles have not articulation that way...

I have a comment.

Why don't we stop bringing up this debate every other day? It's old and never leads to anywhere.
