So, paint him. That's what I did.

^ His jet mode is the best part!

I owuld have said Robot Mode was th best. He looks strong, wise, and determined. Not too easy with a faceplate. He also looks like you wouldnt want him walking towards you even if he was saying "I am an Autobot I am here to help" I dont think you would get those stains out...

Meh. The fuselage looks terrible and fat, especially from above, and isn't even slightly smooth. I give it credit for not trying as blatantly to be a jetformer that's a plane with a robot on the underside, but just sticking robot parts to the sides isn't any better.

I'm not sure what you mean by "sticking robot mode parts to the sides", but all of his various robot parts are fully integrated into the vehicle mode. Yes, you can see his knee guards, but they're not "sticking to the sides", they're integrated into the legs which form the bottom of the front fuselage. His arms also form actual parts of his jet mode as well, not obvious robot kibble. I'd say that they did very well incorporating everything into his jet mode. He does look like an A-10 Thunderbolt.

He's incredibly fat from above and his sides are just... lumpy. It's like someone took a misshapen, stretched out A-10 fuselage and that bothers me. Especially seeing how smooth the lines are on the Thor version of an A-10.

I disagree. Yes, he is a little wider in the front than a standard A-10, but not severely so, and the ankle flanges and knee guards form well-designed intake vents, which, while not standard features on the A-10, do add a nice, agressive feel to the plane mode. They don't look out of place. I've seen the Thor mold, and it looks nothing like Powerglide, particularly in robot mode. Yes, they share the same basic jet mode, but the robot mode of the Thor figure is completely different from Powerglide in every respect.

It's still very A-10 esque in my eyes. Due to licensing, it can't be a perfect representation of an A-10. I have three different A-10 molds, (Cyb. Wingsaber, Uni. Powerglide, and Marvel Thor) and all three do a good job at looking like this jet.

He looks just enough like an A-10 to pass as such, but it does kind of fall apart with a little scrutiny. I'm basing this off of Universe Storm Cloud (just can't bring myself to pick up PG, even though he's like $13 bucks on BBTS), but the alt mode definitely looks like a toy pretending to be an A-10 Thunderbolt, which is not such a good thing for me, seeing as how this is my favorite aircraft. I just find this representation of it to be very mediocre with too many concessions made to the bot mode, even though for the most part I like the colors on Storm Cloud, at least. PG/SC also has a kickass weapon in the missile launcher/gatling gun.

PG/SC's bot mode looks awesome (ABSOLUTELY AWESOME)...from the waist up. The legs and feet are just horrible, IMO.

... I'm sorry, but I did NOT mean to say that Thor would make a better Powerglide than this toy. I just mean that his alt-mode is one of the best-done A-10 molds I've ever seen, which makes Powerglide's look even worse.

As a Powerglide replacement, I do think that the Classics Minicon A-10 works quite well. Especially with all the other Minibots getting Legends-size figures, it fits in pretty well.

My point is that there is nothing inherently wrong with the Powerglide mold. Everything is well integrated into the vehicle mode, and the end result is a really souped-up A-10. It's the best version of Powerglide ever produced IMO. As for the minicon, that too looks nothing like Powerglide. It also has minimal articulation. If you want a bad A-10 mold, look at the Energon combiner limb A-10s from the Superion Maximus set. Yes, the designers took some liberties with the A-10 when designing Powerglide, but there is nothing inherently wrong with what they did because they're well integrated into the plane's design. The only "flaw" in the toy is that he isn't red, and that's an easy fix.

So ultimately the questions are— Does he look like a (modified) A10 in plane mode? Does he look like Powerglide in robot mode? If both of those answers are "yes", then what's the problem? Powerglide's plane mode does look like an A-10, albeit modified (then again, so was the original), and the resulting robot mode looks like Powerglide. I would have to call that a successful design.
