The name Megatron transcends into pop culture … Galvatron not so much. The majority of the ROTF audience will not be part of the fandom and will want to see the two franchise characters return for the sequel.

Oh no doubt I agree 100%. I just think we should see the eventual transformation into Galvatron. As I said in my original post I just think the reasoning behind it is pretty lame.

All the new generation of fans have to do is buy TFTM plain and simple and they can figure it out.

If Unicron is in # 3 it would only make sense to follow a G1 storyline or at least something similar so that he does get reformatted. More $$ in the pockets for marketing there as well!

yes that's true but they have barely covered megatron in the first movie he was awake in only like 45 minutes we barely even know what the characters personality really is besides he hates humans and wants to kill prime,take the allspark and was very pissed about being frozen for years and hopefully he will get more screen time

Galvatron needs to be a new character, not Megatron gone bat shit insane.

it seems to me as though everything revolves around change and thats what they are doing right now till the people stand up against it and finally show them that going with what brought tf to being what it is is going back and using what made it strong in the first place. names notwithstanding

As is my understanding, Megatron is in the movie, but only in a flashback sequence and that's it. I don't think he's returning via a coming back to life scenario...though that doesn't explain why in the recently released footage it appears that Blackout is back and is the one that knocks Prime resulting in him spitting out a "tooth" in the forest. I was under the impression that those who had died will stay dead.

I get why some people would be upset about the lack of using the name Galvatron.

 

But if they did it that way, they'd have an equal number of fans pissed off that now he's "Galvatron" when he didn't get enough time to be just "Megatron" in the first film, and why can't the "Galvatron" upgrade wait until movie three?

Yeah, sums it up. Personaly, I think if they are going to "retell" it, retell it.

 

I don't care that Megatron isn't Galvatron cause hell, go past the movie and what happens(even in AEC), he turns back to friggin Megatron!

so true so true...just would be nice if they followed G1 a little more than they do as after all without G1 Mr.Bay would not be raking in the millions! :)

:tflaugh I'm pretty sure Michael Bay was a successful filmmaker before he started making robot movies.

 

I'm surprised that we still have people whining that the Movie isn't Geewunn enough.

 

BTW - originally Galvetron was a completely separate character. Like Ultra Magnus and Prime. Different guy. And I have G1 canon (Toy bio / Comic) to back that up too.

The big question I have is, what warrants the name change to Galvatron? His main look slightly changed and I doubt his personality has changed at all. In the original animated movie Megatron underwent a drastic transformation to become Galvatron. A completely new look and a completely new personality. I'm glad they're not calling Megatron Galvatron in the new movie just because he slightly changed his appearance. That would be like Megatron in the Animated series changing his name after he got rebuilt. It just wouldn't make sense.
