Roadbuster on his way... Updated 04 / 22 / 09

My own version of Roadbuster. Still working on detailing the rest of the parts (picking out the rivets and metal bits, plus painting the windows and lights), then I gotta drill 4mm holes in the fists before painting THEM...

And may I add that, while the Cap Crossover was amazingly easy to disassemble, it was sheer MURDER to reassamble the furshuginner shield thingy...

It's not much, but it's looking like it's off to a good start.

Can't wait to see the rest!

By the way, please excuse the crudeness of the Autobot emblem - it was hand painted, I have no Reprolabels. :P

Also, th head is the actual Captain America head, covered in liberal amounts of Greenstuff.

If you have a program like Adobe Illustrator, you can make your own Autobot Symbols on the computer and print them out on decal paper. I make all of my own decals that way, including the Autobot and Decepticon symbols.

Well, might have used a TAD too much Greenstuff... but until I can get a new tin of the paint to touch it up after I do so, I can't trim it.

And the color is NOT right in this photo - the colors in the top photo in this thread are 100% spot on. Sorry about the bluish tint here. >.<

Meanwhile, I am currently torn between simply repaintiing the hands and going with arm-mounted weapons, or taking the hands to the local hobby shop (which carries Gunam kits) to find the best size match possible. Either way, the forearms will be disassembled and reassembled around the new hands:

I plan on repainting one of the weapons from a Knockoff Technobot as a forearm mounted weapon on the right arm, while the "folding tommy gun" from Cl Deluxe Prime works WONDERFULLY as both a left arm mounted gun AND as a vehicle mode weapon - once the post has been shaved down a bit, of course.

Comin' along nicely.

It's really making me want to get back into purchasing the Marvel TFs. :tflaugh

I love that shield wheel cap. I played with it for almost 2 minutes straight, just pushing the button and watching it pop open. Very cool. He's a good alt mode with or without the shield wheel cap. I'm getting used to the molded panels vs. conventional doors Good robot mode. Great one for customizing! Nice work so far! Can't wait to see the final product.

You could even just find one online, print it on regular paper, and glue it on. If you want to make it stronger, put some clear tape over it before you cut it out...

using a symbol from online isn't a good idea. it would be too low of a resolution. Using a vector graphic of the symbols made in a program like Illustrator allows you to resize them to any size without resolution loss.

What if you just found a large one and resized it with Paint?

Also, you don't have to go with Reprolabels. I found a cheap set of movie stickers in WalMart that included some faction symbols...

Microsoft Paint? :tfpuke You wouldn't catch me dead using that program. I work strictly with Adobe software—Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.

The problem with resizing a gif, jpg, or similar images is that they're raster-based images—pixel-based, not vector graphics. That means that to resize them, pixels need to be added or subtracted, both of which affect the resolution of the image negatively, particularly in extreme size changes (more than 50% reduction or 150% enlargement). That's why, when you scan a photo, it is always best to scan it at the size you need it. Not only that, but they're low resolution raster images (only 72 DPI, too low of a resolution for print). Vector graphic images can be resized to any size without resolution loss. That's because the shapes are made by mathematical vectors, not pixels. Curves are actual curves, not a series of dots. Diagonal lines are actual lines, not a series of points. That's why logos and such are done as vector graphics, not raster images. They need to be resizable to any size.
