I'm on Tramp's size about vector vs raster. However, there's already a nice source of already vectored symbols out there - there's a TTF of all the various faction symbols. I think it's called "Cybertron Generations" or something similar.

 

And as for Paint... I haven't used any variation of that thing since Macintoshes were black and white, and Reagan was in office. Of course, it wasn't MS Paint in that instance, but you get the idea...

 

As for printing them out, that'd have to wait. My printer ink is out, and unless my advance on that book deal comes in earlier than expected, all my current paycheck is headed towards bills.

GIMP still doesn't help with vector graphics though, as far as I know.
