Should the TF Movie have a soundtrack?

Recommended Posts

actually I think they should take a nod from the first Power Rangers Movie...which when you look at it objectively was something done right. Kept the basic themes, sound track had some good bands (dude, it had chili peppers Higher Ground in it) and not neccisarily new tracks. They made that for kids but able to keep the parents who got dragged there entertained as well. I'm not saying it was a movie masterpiece by far...but the approach was perfect.

Please...keep the crap-metal away from the movie...same goes for hip-hop. Keep the movie with a soundscore, or else in a year, it's gonna be full of crappy "unhip" bands that will make the movie look cheesy and outdated.

that's wishful thinking bc... what movie comes out these days with just a score. when you get a chance look at the soundtrack for shark tale and you will get an idea what we are in for.... although ziggy marley does rock

Well, hopefully it'll sort of be like the Spider-Man soundtrack, where the vast majority of the soundtrack was instrumental, even though they were able to weasel a single or two in the background.

you know they need Stan Bush and Vince DiCola on that soundtrack :tfgrin

It would be kinda cool if the soundtrack was similar to the Matrix movies.

With the robot theme of the movie, a techno soundtrack would be more than appropriate. And for the kick-arse violence we're all wishing for, rock will do also.

One word. Instrumental. I do think that there should be some bands on here, but in the way of composing or contributing to the film score.

I think Air would do a good job - they did a great job with the Virgin Suicides soundtrack (the best thing about that film), and could maybe add a new dimension to the feel of the film.

Tortoise would also do well I think. They produce very interesting soundscapes that would contribute to the feel of the film.

There are also some other artists that would fit in pretty well IMO, such as Mogwai, Autechre and if any songs needed to be used, I'd say use Joy Division or New Order.

I know these suggestions sound pretty unrealistic, but I just don't want to hear or see any more Nickelback/P.O.D. crap, especially for this. I felt that that kind of crap knocked the first Spider Man film from great down to mediocre. If I am correct, X-Men didn't need any big band tie ins or nu-metal crap, just a good film score.

As well as Stan Bush and Vince DiCola working on the music, why not get someone else like Jerry Goldsmith or John Williams in on the act, too? Now, that'd be a soundtrack album i'd buy!!

I'd like to hear instrumentals of the original background mucic from the TV series. Techno versions or Rock/metal versions, doesn't matter. If they do add actual bands then it should be in the same timeline as the movie creating a period piece. If the movie takes place in the 90's then add alternative or whatever, not my fav choice but I'd accept it.

Band-driven soundtracks ruin movies. They always distract from scenes and are always a really conthrived ploy at keeping the hip simple-minded ADD stricken generation of kids entertained. Always too concerned with having cool music video scenes, instead of a good script. But this is why movies like Spiderman and LoTR go on to become cinematic masterpieces, while junk like Fast and the Furious fades into oblivion within a year...

My cheif example...

Interview with the Vampire vs. Queen of the Damned.

Amazing first film..dismal trendy sequel that Anne Rice removed her name from....

It needs some heavy metal. If not nu-metal (a lot of which I like) then definitely some AIC/Soundgarden type heavier grunge and some techno. I mean, big huge robots. One form of heavy metal needs another.
