I'm actually indifferent enough to not have a favorite between the two. It stems from me not liking Cybertron/futuristic modes in general. I prefer earth mode designs. That having been said, this would have to be a more satisfying toy than the first film's Leader Class Toy.

 

And you're totally free to not like it. I'm certainly not going to try and defend this design. I just think your reach for plot points as reasons to hate it when you haven't seen the film yet may not be your best defense against those who would attack your position.

Totally understand what you're saying with your first point. I definitely agree with the 'Cybertron vs Earth mode' preference. However, just within the realm of Bay, there's Movie 1 & Movie 2, as well as now two different designs...I have to compare/contrast these, it's just in my programming! I think I've made it known now which one I think more of.

As for your second point, point taken. I'm just trying to piece together where they decided to come up with this particular design from the point of Movie 1 Megs being destroyed by the Allspark to Movie 2 Megs cannibalizing his other fallen troops at the bottom of the ocean (described on his box bio)...and I just don't think that requires a gimpy Igor type figure to be produced, particularly for the #1 badass! I don't expect Megs to look one way or another or more like G1 or any of that crap...I would however like the design to be one of the more prominent ones, a step above the rest of his Decepticon minions. That make sense?

BTW, that Prime is a killer one! a great improvement from the same figure. Good Job!

Wow Megs does look kind of creepy especially the teeth, I like it. With a little repaint it could come along quite well. Still don't like the gimpy arm of his, wonder if there is a way to "fix" it. Leader prime looks nice going to start saving up for both.

It was said that he rebuilt himself with the parts of dead comrades, I think it would be cool in the movie if Scorponok or some other smaller Decepticon were to combine with his and give Megatron a proper arm.....then they could do it with the toys. Prime combines with Jetfire, Megatron with Scorponok! (Just kidding......or am I).

I still think Megatron is going to look great on screen. My only complaint is I wish he had two normal looking hands, and not a gimpy arm and handless cannon arm. (I usually hate one handed Robots not named Shockwave, Inferno or Hoist).

This Megatron looks better than first film´s one. (That was horrible and this is just ugly) And about that "G1 movie matter" I consider Bay´s look and all Hasbro line something totally alternative and derived from the original Takara toy brands, Diaclone and Microman Microchange. Having dessapeared rhat brands becasue of TF´s world success, I still consider takara´s TF´s the main brands. In the fact, was Takara´s car Robots the series that rescued TFs from the Hasbro´s Beast Machines mess.

 

I think the film is as valid as all american TF line, including the new TV cartoon version, but I don´t like any of that. Takara ´s invention was japanese Super Robots, and movie´s creatures are alien mechanic crustaceous with crab heads. I prefer japanese Super Robots. That´s the resason of my love for TFs, and I don´st see any of that on movie designs. Sorry.

 

I´m only interested on henkei!, Masterpiece and Alternity lines, and I have only one TF from the movie: Takara´s Transcanning Bumblebee. It´s an awesome updating of film design, much more mecha-like.

Me too, and the whole thing with the crab was from a diffrent thread(I think) everyone was arguing about the arms. Well for me I have the idea that one arm is for assault, and the other is for presicion control. With the whole bottom of the ocean deal I jested that some crabs have arms like that and maybe he got the idea from there.

 

Now sporaticly I'm seeing around the board many fiddler refrecnces, and that picture was a made from my initial statement.

 

I don't care people are starting to refer to him as a crab, I just think it's funny that it stuck.

 

Either way, I can't wait for this to get released.

I actually thought it was hilarious when you called him a crab in that one thread. It was the reason why I did the quick photoshop. I haven't however seen it mentioned in another thread since. If it has than Fiddlertron will most definitely live on.

HA, it reminds me of the Scary Movie 2 buttler. The one with the messed up left hand, the "strong" hand. I think they sould have given him a better appearance this time, instead of the can opener look. Better than the first though. Optimus is just better, but it seems that he does not have a gun. Watch Hasbro release him with a gun instead of one of the swords later.

I swear that "Fiddlertron" is going to stick. It's just a perfect analogy of the way he's designed. Perhpas I someone should post the picture in a different board?

 

Also, the only thing i'm not liking about prime is the fact that he has red on those toes. Is it necessary for those to have red for the transformation, or what?
