RUMOR: Animated Toy Line Cancelled!?

Recommended Posts

I hate Animated!Worst line ever!

No thanks to Animated the Classic Universe line suffered.

Im 32yrs.I hate Teen Titans styled Tfers/cartoons.

Yeah great its for the kids......so are Preschool Tfers.

As far as the classics line suffering, this line gets little to no advertising and the figures still fly off the shelves. Cheetor and the repaints are the only figures that seem to be warming the shelves.

But it is suffering due to Animated.

Hasbro said they wouldnt release the same fig in Animated and in Classic Universe.

Animated got Prowl,Classic Universe doesnt. All the Dinobots should have been in Classic Uni.

I mean really.Shockwave should have been a Classic fig,Sunstorm,BAH!!!!

Im sorry.I REALLY hate what they did to Tfer with the Animated line.I hate the figs.I hate the Cartoon.

Prowl was from the Classics line not the Classic Universe line.2 different toylines.

Prowl was universe retard

note the large, "Universe" text on his box:

I went in and bought a ton of TFA stuff from TRU today, and in looking at other stuff, I see, I don't know, maybe 4 or 5 different styles of Star Wars stuff, several styles of DC stuff, several of Marvel etc. (and I'm not concentrating very hard on those things, so don't hold me to the exact numbers of each style. . .)

So I started thinking and ended up asking myself, "Why if all of the people who like those different styles within those lines can have them for an extended time and in a completist way, why can't we as Transformers collectors?"

Let's face it---I don't like the movie style, but that really doesn't make my opinion more important than someone's who does. Why can't Animated live on---I don't see them cancelling a ton of SW figures that are more real looking than the Clone Wars animated style just because Clone Wars is hot right now. I would think that diversification of product would reap the most benefits for Hasbro with all of us too, in the long run.

I don't care about anyone's TF opinions but my own and my kids' anymore--Animated isn't the worst thing to happen to Transformers anymore than the movie is or AEC or whatever---they've all kept the ball rolling, so for that I guess I'm happy---I won't bash the movie or the toys from it, but I won't love them either.

Don't try to change my opinion or insult my tastes and I'll refrain from the same. . . and don't try to say anything about the lack of Animated sales unless you have some hard facts to back up the opinion. If someone does have this info it would be appreciated if it were posted. Meanwhile, I'll be trying to complete my Animated collection, and ignoring most of the new movie figures. . .

and also, I don't buy into the viewpoint that one line hurts another. How could that be? More choice is good, not bad!

Eh...Your experience. I can say the opposite for my area. With the exception of Oil Slick and Battle Bumpers, I can't find a thing Animated in my area. Classics is over flowing. You can't say that Animated is a failure or a success without actual hard numbers from Hasbro.

Personally I think they've got too much CRAP out there....FAB's, Battle Bumpers, SW and Marvel Crossovers, the total waste of space and materials that is their packaging. Not to mention the movie line is shaping up to be another shelf warmer. Case in point...the huge craptastic $100 pile of poo that is movie Devastator. AND the newly revealed Leader class Movie Megatron... :puke

No, I can't say for sure without Hasbro's numbers, but it's also not hard to read between the lines. Several major retailers appear to be cancelling the line. That certainly sounds like it's not selling well to me. Why would they cancel something that was profitable? I highly doubt the upcoming movie line will shelf warm either.. the last movie line was the most overwhelming success Hasbro's had in ages, I suspect unless the 2nd movie somehow manages to tank completely, we'll see a repeat success (though, due to the economic downshift, perhaps not *quite* so overwhelming).

I will definately agree with you on the junk "peripheral" lines though.. that stuff seems both unneccesary and never seems to sell at all. As for Devy, I don't doubt he'll be a shelf warmer.. not only is the figure somewhat disapointing, it's also 100 bucks in a tough fiscal time. It wont sell. Hell, most of the time the $50 pricepoint winds up going to clearance, easily. But I'd glady take that Megatron over anything from Animated, any day. :nuts

In the end though, it doesn't matter much what any of us here think, it matters what sells. They're businesses, and it seems they're gambling on the 2nd movie over Animated. I'm sure the reasons are there.

How do we know that they are being canceled? If people think it's being canceled because of the "Gray" stickers at Target. The Gray stickers are there to mark pegs for new product that are due to come out. They have nothing to do with Canceled product. And I'm speaking form my experience working at Target part time a couple years ago. Has there actually been OFFICIAL press from these retailers or from Hasbro saying that Animated has been canceled? No. Until I see the official word It's just a rumor.

Hasbro needs to get back to basics with the TF lines. There is NO NEED for FABS, Battle Bumpers, Role Play stuff etc. They need to take all the time, effort, and $$$ they put into those pointless lines and put them into the core Transforming figures. Maybe we would be getting a really NICE Devastator with individual deluxe vehicles that both combine AND have their own bot modes rather than two separate sets of figures with two separate gimmicks.

Animated was selling fine before Walmart went and hiked the price up. BTW, it's still selling, even if not as much. I know, because I'm watching pegs empty out all around my area and my area is not known for it's large base of Transformers collectors. Animated has not been officially cancelled, so I don't think it's over yet, by any means. Sometimes, Hasbro has to refocus their efforts, as they did when Classics was put on hiatus before. That doesn't mean that it is over. The movie is probably soaking up A LOT of their resources, because it's a huge ass line, but Animated will be back. It is a successful line. Animated>Cybertron>Energon>Armada?

I did put the "!?" in there, but you're right. Added.

BTW, thank you. I apologize for what probably sounded like a smartass comment by me. I didn't mean for it to sound the way it probably did. I was in a hurry and was just trying to suggest... :redface

its weird because lately I've seen a big infusion of wave 1 figures again. Deluxe BB, OP, Prowl, BA and Lockdown really own the shelves. Swoop and Sentinel really had no shelf time.

All I ever see in the stores in my area are BA's, Stealth Lockdown's and Oil Slick. I guess no one likes those characters around here since I've actually scene a layer of dust on a few of the BA's.

Quite frankly even though Walmart has jacked up the price, I don't see any sort of slow down. If people can stomach BBTS's prices and online stores like it, they apparently can stomach the $12-13 bucks at walmart which is still cheaper then BBTS.
