Yamatotron's first Custom: Crankcase

Recommended Posts

Using a spare Ironhide mold, I intend to make a Classics Crankcase, complete with shoulder cannons. Maybe not flip-up, as per the Triggercons, but at least shoulder anchored.

Anyway, I'm not sure how exactly to do the head for Crankcase.

Currently I'm working on getting more paints and extra supplies. I have the ironhide fully disassembled. I've been searching through my bin of spare parts and have found possible cannons for his shoulders (with modifications, of course), but the head poses a problem. Ironhide's head-size is not typical, and I still want Crankcase to be fully transformable.

If anyone can think of a template to modify a head for this, I would welcome the suggestion.

How about movie Crankcase's head ?

eh, that head doesn't really match with the Original's. I'm hoping for something that resembles Crankcase's old head, y'know? Or at least something that can easily be modified, since this is my first attempt at kitbashing.

Thanks!

hmmm... I can't find anyplace that sells Testor paints... Gotta keep looking.

Try Hobbytown USA, they usually have a wide variety of paints available.

My attempt at Crankcase was a failure... I didn't account for the weak plastic used in Ironhide's construction, and it broke in a catastrophic place.

So yeah... And I had found the perfect head, too. :/

Where/how did it break? Got pics?

It broke in the screw peg that holds the rear-half/chest area of Ironhide. I'd get pictures, but I don't have a digital camera.

On the plus side, I can put him together in a figure... he just won't be able to transform. :(

The hinge that the rear folds down on (that the head platform is attached to)?
