Animated Hot Shot; Made Public by Wyatt

I have no problem with two Bumblebee-like characters crossing paths in the same universe.
How is Hotshot like Bumblebee?

Okay, Bumblebee's a kid in this version, but still. Hot Rod was the original kid sidekick character in TF.

So you dont remember Spike riding in Bumblebee all the time in season 1&2.

I dont get it then?

This is Hot McShot.

Missed out on him

I meant he's not a kid himself. He was definitely Spike's sidekick, but he sounded too grownup to be a kidbot.

You're right. He wasn't necessarily a kidbot. He was impulsive and jumped into F'd up sitches though.

You're kidding right? BB was doing the young/inexperienced/fun-bot back in 84 (maybe not exactly a "kid" but could anything over a million years old be considered as such?). Hot Shot was a complete re-make of BB. Granted he was an "update" to make him more accessible to the children of the day, but I'd be willing to bet the only reason Hasbro didn't use the name Bumblebee was that some exec didn't think kids would think the name was cool enough.

True enough.

I seem to recall them(Hasbro) wanting to name him "Hot Rod" though, but settled on something similar(Hot Shot)
"Both loved and hated"

... I think I can count on one hand the number of people who love Armada Hot Shot.

I recall that too, but "hot rod" is a commonly used term for a type of car and so cannot be trade marked. Just because they "seriously considered" Hotrod doesn't mean it was the first thing they considered, or that Hotrod was the character they based Hot Shot off of. The simple matter of color choice (not to mention attitude) would be evidence enough of that.

... Though I could concede, that he probably was a combination of BB and Hotrod. But both BB and Hotrod filled the "young/inexperienced/fun/cool-bot" role in G1, so to say Hot Shot was the original TF "kidbot" would be slightly inaccurate.

Honestly, I'm liking him. It seems to me that Wyatt's pulling a lot of influence from all of Hot Shot's appearances in A/E/C while still having a unique character design. His alt mode's more than likely going to be a souped up racing car, but the artists have been known to surprise.
