Not too impressed... the design seems slopped together and is quite generic & borish (surprisingly more so than the Jetfire/Jetstorm designs). Colors are a little wacky... as are the helmet & the He-Man/S&M chest strap thingy. Toss this one back in the water.

While I laughed, that was kinda douchey.

The whole reason for Hot Shot's existence (and the story behind all the naming talk) is that Hasbro had lost the copyright to the name "Bumblebee," ironically around the time of Beast Wars.

Realizing this, Hasbro and TT merged the characters of Bumblebee and Hot Rod into the character "Hot Shot" for Armada.

It was only with the coming of the 2007 live action movie that Hasbro got the name "Bumblebee" back.

 

As fir Hot Rod's name, well "Hot Rod" is to common a term for Hasbro to secure the trademark to (sticking an "Autobot...." pretext won't do it). So we're stuck with "Rodimus," "Rodimus Minor," etc....
