ok.. obviously the 'plastic' vs 'die-cast' debate goes on... second only to "boxed" vs "open em" debate... and no one will ever change anyone's mind.. it's just fun to believe your opinion or choice is right.. and thus just as fun to express it and lord over others a superior stance...

.. but for this thread.. it is not necessarily meant to be a DISCUSSION as much as a DEMOGRAPHIC CONSENSUS. :D

So what say you??? Flexible... Rigid.. or a pansy?

plastic. and since there was only one vote before me. that means you voted both sgt. york and thus a pansy by your own description. Tremble before my decision making powah weakling!

plastic, while it has its problems, is better for toy making. easier to mold, paint, display and play with. but I have never turned down a diecast toy I wanted, I just prefer plastic. now is rumble red or blue?

I chose the Plastic FTW, cause that's what I think in most terms. However, there are certain toys that I think are enhanced by Diecast (certain G1) and some that are hindered by it (MP Prime).

And Rumble is whatever fargin' color I want him to be at the time!

:woot

I like both. On a more expensive figure I like alot of die-cast, it just gives the figure a more solid better feel.

Case in point, MP Optimus vs MP Megatron

Die-Cast just makes it nicer.

On everyday figures though, I don't mind plastic. It's way more forgiving. I've seen alot of Autobot cars with a gagged grey busted end that use to work as a hinge. Basicly, a G1 falls to high from the shelf it breaks, a newer figure(at least before 2008) just pick it back up and repossition it.

Why? the plastic has more give.

So in short, I like the look and feel of die-cast, and am always happy to see it used, however I also like the veratility and durability of plastic. So, I'm on the fence.

i thought the failure of the titanium line closed the door on this debate. Plastic

Die-Cast though some are good in plastic, the old Vintage is better off as Die-Cast. However with the MP Line Die-Cast and plastic combined is great. as you got a great figure with posability

I loved that line, and oddly only ever had a problem with the plastic parts on those figures. Hasbro was just to dam cheap to keep making them.

Yeah, if they ever did another reissue line in plastic instead of metal it would fail quicker a thing that fails quick(sorry, still having coffee)

Um, well Hasbro wasn't exactly turning near the profit on the Titaniums as they would like. I wouldn't call them cheap for cancelling it. And, we did still get stuff like War Within Prowl & Grimlock in the end.

Don't get me wrong, i loved the war within designs, have bid hundreds of times on gi magus only to loose in the last seconds but i think if they were plastic we might still see them on the shelf. the biggest problem with diecast is the weight. it increases shipping costs, the plastic joints have that much more weight to support making the toy seem cheaper and therefore fewwer repeat buyers.

Sure because all the prep work was done and they figured the line still had a couple more dollars to squeeze out of it. Hasbro(like with their other 6 inch Titanium lines) were offering display pieces, buyers though where looking for action figures. If they improved the plastic parts, and made the figures more solid, they could have pleased everyone. Instead they claimed the price of zinc was rising to much and shelved the more intricate Titaniums that acualy did something while still continuing with Marvel and Star Wars which are basicly statues and all metal. It makes me wonder why the price of zinc didn't effect those shelf warmers too?

I'd be very happy if Titaniums came back, there were still some great figures in waiting like the closest thing to an actual Arcee, Shockwave, and Cosmos.
