My Alt Sunstreaker

Recommended Posts

*Bump with question*

I FINALLY got my Yellow BT Tracks, which I bought just for this purpose. Problem is, when I went to switch the heads, the ball joints were different sizes. Tracks' ball/socket is quite a bit larger than Dead End's... is this because I'm using an Alt. Dead End, and is the ball joint the same size on BT Dead End and BT Tracks? I really don't want to have to buy another $50 figure just for the head. And the difference is way too much for the clear nail polish trick. Please advise... Thanks! :thumb

Hope you don't mind, but know I want to go out, get a yellow Tracks and a Dead End and do the same thing. Then I'll get Sideswipe, and I'll have the Autobot twins for my army of TFs. I also plan on getting Meister, renaming it Jazz, and getting the labels from reprolabels, as well as the Hound ones, because I want to get hound. I don't want Silverstreak, Smokescreen, or either for a Prowl repaint, lord knows we have loads of Prowls per series anyway.

Man, both of them looks cool.

I want to thank everyone for their compliments, I appreciate it.

Also I hope that everyone that has asked me questions was satisfied with the answers I gave.

But the one thing that people seem to have a problem with is the ball joint, the one on Tracks is much bigger then the one on Deadend.

The way I found to fix this is to use a dremel tool to shave down the sides and top of the larger ball joint and keep doing it until you find the level of snuggness that you are happy with.

As for deadend, Since the hole on the neck of the tracks head is bigger then you have to find a way to fill the space. I used about 3 coats of gule on the side of the head with the larger portion of the joint. Let it pool a little at the bottom so the head doesnt move up and down, and then coat the sides. Mine is still a little loose but poses really well. Just continue to lay on coats until you get the required snuggness you are looking for.

If anyone else has any question, or anything else, just PM me.

Thanks guys.

Rock on...makes me want BT Yellow Tracks...mauwhahaha...

I'm going to do this. I'm not very good with too many paint customs, so I'll do this instead and just get a friend of mine, who's great at custom painting, to repaint Dead End's and Tracks' heads to the right colors. Or I could just hold out for an Alternator Sunstreaker that Hasbro releases.

Sure... if ya wanna do it the easy way.. jk

I'll just wait for the store exclusive Deadend repaint as Sunstreaker :P

Update on the ball joint issue... if you're skeptical about taking a dremel to a $50 figure (like I was), just do it the other way... use the dremel to cut out more of the inside of the back half of Dead End's head until it fits on the post. You don't have to do anything to the front half, just the back. As soon as it fits in place on the post and you can put the front half completely back on (touches all the way around) then stop dremelling. :thumb Head has a fair amount of mobility this way, and turns smoothly. Much less precision is required to do it this way, and if you screw up, you're only out $20, instead of $50! :tflaugh

Excellent job.
