Transformers 2 Decepticon Alternate Mode Confirmed?

Recommended Posts

I reckon by "satellite" they meant "Natural Satellite" Ala: Unicron, and by "Soundwave" they meant "Unicron".

What's the fun in watching fanwank if you don't make it worse.

The source also supposedly confirmed Soundwave's alt mode (Earth) being a pick up truck. This could be cool if it was one of those international HUGE beasts that hold like 2 quads in the back. One for Rumble, one for Frenzy (or Lbeak?)

This should be noted as it was released with the news of Satellite

I've got a feeling he meant Shockwave, seeing as he does have the precident for the satellite, and it also feels more shockwavey to be the big picture observer, sitting way back and glimpsing everything before going in and kicking ass.

I really do despise what Michael Bay had done with transformers. In the movie, the autobots' alternate forms are everything but a disguise. Instead of being vehicles we all see on the streets everyday, we had things like a gangsta/biker-colored 18-wheeler (without the trailer, of course), a camaro that wasn't even out yet, a pick-up truck that is nothing like the original G1 version and also one most of us probably have never seen in real life, a nissan solstice that was really only put in there for advertising purposes (as were most of the vehicle forms, in fact), a 'cybertronian' jet (which was just an excuse to skimp out on an alt mode. It didn't even look like a jet in the actual movie, without even mentioning the toy). We had a helicopter that seemed to be in the middle-east one day and somehow managed to get to the middle of the U.S. in a half an hour. We had a jet that never seemed to need to refuel. A tank that, even more miraculously than the helicopter, managed to get to the middle of the U.S. in a half hour. Now we're getting pics of vehicles none of us had ever even heard of, and random ones as well, such as Soundwave who is supposed to be a satellite. I mean, yeah the original cassette tape was also a pathetic alt mode, but this really isn't an upgrade. Who would want to be a satellite? I mean, seriously? Is Bay on drugs?

Your argument has a point but full of flaws.

1. I'ver seen tons of 18 wheelers with kick ass paint jobs.

2. GMC Topkicks are always seen (I usually see red ones, but a black one is no different)

3. A pontiac is a very good disguise. I see plenty of pontiacs, even solstices, everywhere I go.

4. Megatron did not care for primitive disguises. Theres a G1 reference there: http://tinyurl.com/4588cx better than a Pistol I say.

5. Blackout was in the middle east yes, but most likely was on his way to America after the attack.

6. Brawl must have came from a tank depot in a national guard facility. Here in RI there's one in Warwick I see APCs and a few tanks here and there.

7. Starscream is a transformer and transformers consume energon. he most likely stocked up on energon before he came to earth, then regenerated his reserves in "reign of starscream" issue #2

8. 2008 no corvette centinials (SP?) 2009 and 2010 most likely!

9. I will agree with you, Soundwave Should not be a satellite.

Lets not forget, bay daid he's leaking false info.

We always see nice cars on the street and look at them. I'm pretty sure the first thing that comes to mind is that they are giant killer robots from an alien planet. I see corvettes and a few classic hotrods and camaros here and there. and the rich who live in another part of the state have mercedes, rollsroices (SP?) etc. but other than a few flaws/innacuracies, you do have somewhat of a point.

or you know.... its a movie about Giant Robots blowing Sh*t up....

What do you want?

:doh

its happening ---- AGAIN!

its happening ---- AGAIN!

Everyone brace yourselves!

New posters are signing up left and right, pretending their arguments against Bay haven't already been addressed time and time again!

Hunter, Terrorcon Blot - get with Madhammer and seal the entrance.

Atmo's headed this way with a crappy photoshop of his ideal Starscream. I'll handle him.

I can already feel Glue starting to turn against us and...oh no...oh, NO! It's Tramp! Prime Collector, we need back up, get Plumperhumper in here ASAP.

Move it, people! Do I have to remind you that the next eighteen months of board discussion is on the line? How many more thirty page threads about mass shifting can we endure!?

Bring the rain!

Well, I don't know about you, but I think that the Transformers movie is just as much an hour and a half long advertisement as it is a transformers film. Maybe some of us don't pay much attention when we see a clown 18 wheeler, but it would definitely catch my attention if I saw one rolling on the streets, followed by a camaro not released yet, a pick up truck with flames coming out of its exhaust, a hummer ambulance that's painted green (wtf?), a pontiac that was unheard of before the movie but suddenly is everywhere a year after everyone saw it on the big screen, etc.. Plus, if Prime needed to disguise himself from the Decepticons, then a flaming truck should be his last choice. On the highway, if there was a line of 18-wheelers speeding down the road, and all of them were normal-colored except this one who was blue, red, orange, and had flame decals..which one would you think Starscream or whoever would fire at first? Most of the vehicles Bay put in the film he put in just so he could earn some extra cash from the companies that payed him to use it. How do you think he came up with these alt. forms? As soon as he send out a form that he needed alt forms for movie characters, a dozen car companies all contacted him and offered him amounts of money if he only gave their vehicles screen time. He just chose the highest bidders. Because, in all honesty, a movie like this is a car company's best chance to advertise. Not only will people see their car on the big screen, but on posters for the movie, on transformer websites, on movie commercials, on the toys, and the children will see them and then buy them when they grow older. It's all planned out. SO that's why I hate Bay--because he doesn't give a damn about transformers and what they are, just the money he can make off of them. Plus, I can't believe Bay is putting the Fallen character in the second film. I mean, this is a character many of us haven't even heard of, and I wouldn't have known about the Fallen if I hadn't watched a review for the titanium figure. I mean, if Bay wanted something big and mean in the second film, why not put in Unicron? What's next?

wow dude you even give fanboys a bad name (bay >>> you)

So.. it's... Transformers, which has NEVER been anything more than a 22 minute animated advertisement for a toyline.

I saw tons of Solstaces outside the local GM dealers long before the movie, but besides that point, even if I did see an odd collection of vehicles driving down the road, my first reaction* wouldn't be "ZOMG, Robots in Disguise!".. it'd be "huh, that's a strange buncha cars. I wonder if there's some sort of Car Show around here today, or a movie being filmed, or a gang thing or..." about 100 things my brain would suggest before it came to "20 foot tall robots from outer space pretending to be cars"

Transformers have NEVER had logical alternate modes. G1 was loaded with high end sports cars like Lamboghinis (Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Red Alert, who's a LAMBO FIRE CHIEF'S CAR, which is FAR more rediculous than anything in the live action movie :lol) driving along with a type of ambulance that was never commercially sold in the US and a 18 wheeler too. And lets not forget the blue, white/red/blue and black and purple F-15s that certainly would never attract air defense systems whatsoever. Bay is hardly breaking from tradition by going with fancy cars or bizzare alt modes.

*assuming I was a normal person and not myself, who sees an old COE Freightliner and grins cause my brain automatically associates that with Optimus :nuts

And GM says "You're welcome for the 20 million dollars worth of extra CGI that we paid for with our advertising." That money isn't exactly pocketed by Mr. Bay. It's given to Paramount as a licensing contract, it's not like General Motors slipped Bay a personal check.

SO that's why I hate Bay--because he doesn't give a damn about transformers and what they are, just the money he can make off of them. Probably Unicron. :P

Going with the typical "each sequel must be bigger and bolder" idea, first you get GIANT F-ing ROBOTS, then you get GIANT *GIANT* F-ing Robots (Devestator/combiner), in the 3rd movie you pull out GINORMOUS GIANT F-ing ROBOT.

Look, there's plenty of reasons to dislike the original movie... the script is kind of hokey in places (I don't think there's anyone on the fandom that feels the Hacker subplot was necessary or improved the film at all, all i hear is complaints about it), the editing is shakey at times, and the designs are certainly an aquired taste.. but to hate it for things that aren't factually correct or are in fact keeping with the spirit of the original franchise isn't a good reason.
