I recently got something pretty exciting in the mail from china, a pre-production prototype of the iGears PP01 series. Since I think I’m one of if not the first to get a hold of one of these I figured I would share a closer look of what this thing looks and feels like. One thing to note is that this is a prototype so one would imagine there might be slight changes in the final product. -First Look: This is a scaled down version of MP01. Nothing appears to be simplified. Everything down to the tire suspension, to the complex elbow and knee joints, to the rivets and panel lines is there. -Size: PP01 stands at 8.5 inches or about 21.59 cm. Shoulder width is ab…

I found this guy at Target yesterday. I had planned on getting this mold for the past two years, but I never got around to it until now. Every time prior I had seen the mold something threw me off. Sometimes the figure was posed badly in the packaging, sometimes I had something else I wanted, sometimes I just couldn't justifying buying any figures and I was just window shopping. Honestly, I wish I had had this guy from the very beginning. He has some problems, but they're nothing a decent modder couldn't easily fix. In fact, I'll also describe the fix I made in the review, so you, too, can have an awesome Voyager Prime if you want. Alt Mode: I have the Defender Pr…

The VF-17 Nightmare is from Macross Seven and was designed by Kawamori Shoji in the early 1990's and released in 1995 and later re-released in the early 2000's. It is a stealth bomber with heavy design influences from the F-117 Stealth Bomber, although the middle fuselage area and tail section are quite different to accommodate the Valkyrie design. I know very little about how the VF-17 was used in Macross Seven as I have seen very little of the show, but from what I can tell the robot mode is quite accurate, despite the fighter mode being a little on the chubby side. Today I am reviewing the reissue. The VF-17 comes packaged in Fighter mode, so I'll start there: …

(yeah sorry, I'm gonna have to break out of Haiku mode from this thread :P) PICS Assault vehicle modes ---------------------------------------------------------------- Comparison between 1985 G1s (left) and Encores (right). Bonecrusher Hook/Glen Long Haul/Long Howl Scavenger Scrapper Devastator ------------------------------------------------------ Thoughts + I can see what people mean when they describe the Encore Constructicons as being of "KO" quality. These really are not excellent reproductions of the original Constructicons. They're not terrible per se, but they are certainly disappointing. The colours a…

When the first wave of ROTF figures came out, leader Prime was a must buy, however, leader Megatron did not fare as well. Soon after, voyager Megatron was released, and after endless praise on the forums, I was finally convinced. Megatron's alt. mode is a cybertronian tank, it features a launching missile but I have it put away. The tank mode is much more accurate this time around and is an overall much cleaner design than the leader class. One of the few strikes against this mode is the algae green color, but it's broken up by some silver, gold, and black detailing The back is not quite as clean as the front end but it isn't bad. It includes multiple th…

Seeing as I can't find a general video forum around here, this will have to do! A short funny video about RtS Lugnut and how his old animated buddies feel about him now that he's all realistic looking and covered in details.
