"Characters like BW Agent Ravage and G1 Sky Lynx benefited from the non-generic North American accents expressing their personalities"

I'm quite sure that:

1/ Ravage had a Russian/Eastern European accent. It was meant to mimic ex-Soviet Union KGB spies defecting to the West or at least, cooperating with them after the cold war. Heck, ravage even pronunced his name as "Covert Agent Rab1tch".

2/ Skylynx had a BRITISH accent.

However, most Brits have just as good teeth as Yanks. Japanese people on the other hand...

Just google for it.

If he's s coward he's probably French.

A bunch of rude stereotypes.

Yeah! And if they ever bring back Blaster, they can give him gigantic lips, and a robotic afro, and make him do nothing except eat energon fried chicken and energon orange soda, while saying how he would pimp things out.

:pfx i know right - apparently racism towards the french is acceptable :roll

if this was a "hey let's poke fun at french people" thread then yeah humour >>> pc crap but this thread is just downright offensive

Explain how. Seriously. I'm giving you an opportunity before I internet bash you with history.

A bunch of rude stereotypes.

Isn't that exactly did with jazz in the first Bay film?

No, Jazz had one throwaway line where he talked "street". Sure, his speech was more laid back than the other Autobots in other lines ("Fire it up, Optimus!", "Come on, Decepticon punk!", and "You wanna piece of me?!"), but that was about it.

One could say Animated Jazz is ALSO a stereotype, since he speaks like a 1970s jive talkin' cool cat. But they're not dripping in the racism juice like "french anti-war snob and dirty spy Mirage" that started this discussion.

Methinks you have gotten the wrong end of the energon-stick here, me bucko.

I was just suggesting that Mirage, based on some evidence, might actually sound ok with a French accent. It isn't racist to use cultural traits to depict characters in works of fiction all the time, you know. Im sure such a process can be abused but anything can.

Peter Cullen based his Optimus Prime voice on his brother, who in turn, it was said, was mixed with a little bit of "John Wayne".

Coupled withe the fact that OP is a big-rig, in red, white and blue and you have the all-American hero bot right there. Is THAT racist?

racist imbecile

geopolitical racism is cool, don matter what colour u are french men are gits, you yanks whine too much, the japs are just deranged an the canucks are err, overtly friendly to cheese, live with it

p.s. whats the difference between the french and toast?? you can make soldiers out of toast
