Scattershot was given a southern accent,

Okay, I'm watching the sub instead of the dub, but... Blue tank? With a sort of visor instead of optics? Called Backpack in Japan?

*Tries to imagine the sweet, adorable character she knows with a southern accent* ... oi vey.

It wasn't a southern accent just a gross, exaggerated approximation. Imagine Inuyasha with a really crummy fake accent and there you go.

You mean like how Jetfire had a horrible Australian accent?

And Red Alert had a horrible whatever the hell accent? I am of the opinion that all the non-American/Canadian accents in Cybertron sucked donkey balls, but Cybertron has gotten enough bashing on these forums I think. And I don't want to rip on something that has already come and gone.

*goes back to ripping on Bayformers*

I belive cybertron Red alert had a kind of generic English accent

but I don't care about accents really if you think about it. If you think about it from the Movie POV and they learned english from the next then logic says they would pick up some variation. and as for G1 it game them a seance of character and you could apply the same logic to cybertron as you could to earth as regards as to how a language could range over the whole planet

as for Mirage being French I kinda like the idea of future Mirage's so long as its not too pandering to the stereotype

Blitz, could you do me a favor and use a period? Just one time. You don't even have to put it in the right place. You could just put it somewhere random.

Like. this

:tflaugh

If you want Blitz to use a "period" then you should, ironically, use the British term "full-stop" as he is British.

A famous Brit comedian once said "...but then again, a period is a full-stop for most Yank men, eh?"

Again though, the accents used by the TFs are not descriptive of the bot's actual race or background, but on using stereotypes to distingish for us, the viewers a little of where that character comes from.

In the Japanese shows, comedian characters, like the Frog in Beast Wars, had a "kansai" accent (ie: Osaka), as Kansai people are stereotypically "jokers".

Im just suggesting that there are many signs and imagery associated with him that Mirage could have a French accent.

He wouldn't be the first. One bot in Cybertron had one too.

1) But American English is MOAR IMPOTENT...errr, IMPORTANT!!!

2) Is that joke funny because a period is NOT a "full stop" for Brits? Ewwwwww.

I just don't see anything positive to be gained by perpetuating stereotypes.

Well, its not like Jetfire was throwin' another shrimp on the barbie or Scattorshot was skinnin' a coon or Red Alert had bad teeth.

Hell, I'll just go ahead and say it, I would have watched Cybertron if all the robots didn't have fake retarded accents.

I'm not saying it was Amos and Andy up on the screen or anything. I just think don't think that this kind of thing serves any good purpose.
