funny you mention number 2 - i started collecting when i gave up drinking...

...Because I like the franchise? What kind of question is that?

I buy them to play with them. That is, after all, what they're for.

Because Alternators Smokescreen was too good to pass up, and MP Optimus Prime, and Classics and Universe and G1, both vintage and reissue. It also helps that I liked Transformers when I was a kid.

Besides, there are worse things to spend money on.

to enjoy it and to have fun with the transformers that I have fun with them

You should make friends with Punctuation & Grammar.

Because I like them

Because I like to play with them

Because I can

Because why should I justify myself to you?

Because they're now cool

Because it distracts people from the almost naked Nami figurine(s?) I have

Because I can't make them out of LEGO

I collect because I've always had interests in robots and machinery. Plus it brings me back to those oh so happy days of my childhood when I used to play with my G2's. Besides if I wasn't spending my money on TF's I'd be spending on far more useless junk.

It might sound a bit silly, but to sum up why I collect in a word would be: experience.

I remember when I was younger( and still do, actually..), I'd look at toys and wonder "Hm..I wonder what that toy is like? How about that one?" or "Hm. They say that toy is fun. Is it?"

That's one of the few reasons I can think of, since I usually keep my TFs on display(*coughkindwayofsayingtakingupspacecough*), and transform them a few times, then back on display or into storage.

Seems to be my case with Gundam kits, Zoids, Lego and Mugenbine as well, since those I usually just build and display, or store away, and don't do anything much more creative with them anymore. (Of course, since I've had at least two Lego sets, made within recent years, crack on me in the last month during intended usage, the creative thing is kinda going out the window unless I buy duplicates. :shrug )

Oh, and I'm usually a sucker for Robots. Tell me something has a robot in it, I'm interested.
