Better than wasting life away with drinking, drugs and smoking and at least you're getting something for the money that lasts longer and isn't going to ruin your body. Plus they can be imaginative and a glimpse sometimes of just how good the engineering for something like a toy can be.

well the classics got me back in to TF as thats how i saw them when i was a kid. I am a Toys R Us Kid lol.

Interesting that so many people say things to the effect of it wasn't for TF's they'd be drunk or stoned all the time. Like those are the only two choices with how to spend your free time! lol

 

As for me...I don't know. I think it goes back to Liege Evilmus's reasons, i.e. getting a little something I couldn't have before, but can have now. Although my gf's therapist says it's cuz I'm "passionate," whatever the hell that means.

 

Sometimes I try to give it up and sell off my stuff...only to buy the same shot back a few months later. Frankly, I'm not sure I WANT to collect, but it's just too hard to give it up. Even though they are just inanimate chunks of plastic, and they don't provide sustenance, shelter, warmth etc, and the extra money would look good in the bank during these increasingly chaotic times, I guess there would just be a little something missing if they were gone.

 

I'm very conflicted about the whole thing.

 

*DISCLAIMER* This applies only to G1 and newer molds of G1 figs. I recently watched the Bay movie again, and realized it's not very good. Hence, I think I can get rid of my movie collection and not feel too bad about it. Except Leader Prime. That's a cool fig. And this isn't too say that G1 and BayFormers are the only lines out there. I just never got into Beast Wars, MachineWars, RID, so on and so on, etc, etc.

I collect Transformers because I started liking them and I really can't stop because I got attached to the characters and the toys are just really fun! But the main reason why I collect Transformers and all my other toys is because its a life hobby that if I stopped collecting I would probably go crazy. lol. I've been collecting Transformers for 4 years, and all my toys for about 8 years with me having the most of Star Wars.
