I hope they don't waste time focusing on the relationship stuff. Just give me robots, damnit!

The last thing the movie needs is a bunch of relationship drama getting in the way of farging ROBOTS. Besides, in Hollywood, most movies have people with a bunch of relationship problems. I would for once like to see a movie without shot like that. It's boring and it's old and it is FAR from deep.

That is all.

that is enough I cannot stand by any longer listening to this blasphemy, I understand there's no transformers without supporting characters, and also furthermore to facilitate any decent story you need a backup story line or a relationship, I mean I do not go to any film just to see a giant robots kick the ever loving crap out of each other for 2 1/2 hours. and that just doesn't interest me enough to sit still, for that long in one seat I need a second reason to keep me interested and to keep me watching, and that doesn't mean that I do not enjoy a good robot battle but I'm sorry I need something else I don't know what I need something else I'm sorry, I just don't know what else to say on that topic. I have one thing to say transformers is nothing without the people behind them supporting them telling them to keep on going telling them that they're doing, the right thing, it's not just all about the robots the people relationships, matter as much as a robots do in the film.

:wtf

I'm fine with sub plots, but it doesn't have to be a fucking TRITE relationship drama. Reading the horrible Twilight books gave me more than my fill of THAT. I would much rather have sub plots that explore then subject matter: Huge transforming robots. Humans have always played a role, but they should not be the focus. If the humans played a similar role in TF2 that they play in animated, I'll be happy.

Also, your posts are hard on the eyes. I'm not asking for perfect grammar and punctuation but at least use some. Also: The enter key is your friend after you've addressed one main idea.

You're going to be disappointed next summer.

Yeah, I figured. Well, as long as Scorponok gets to impale someone else, I'll be decently happy.

But here's what I don't get, people make it out like the movie was 99% love story and only 1% everything else.

There was A LOT more going on throughout the movie than the love story. There wasn't any more (probably less) about the love story than there was time spent on the marines. You also had various scenes featuring the governments response, the computer geeks, Frenzy and all of the other scenes that dealt with the bots.

Another thing to keep in mind is that it accomplished the most fundamental elements necessary for a potentially mega movie franchise. To put it simply...it set the table.

The first movie had to have a great many things go right in order to do this. It had to introduce us to, and begin to develop key characters that people will care about. Done.

Now it didn't have to have the GREATEST story, it just had to good enough to fit well with the overall plot, which wasn't as hokey as it first sounded, and not get too complicated. Again, I'd say they did a great job here too. As I said, even if you didn't care as much for the love connection, there was plenty more going on with other characters.

The biggest thing though, is that it had to capture the audiences and make them leave wanting more. No arguing that they succeeded there!

And it was nicely set up for the sequel. Those were some of the most important things that the first movie needed to do. With a lot of the introductions out of the way, the next movies will be a lot more free to focus more on other things that some feel the first movie lacked.

Let's also not forget, the budget will be MUCH bigger! And lots more TF's are promised. I don't think Bay is unaware of the importance of the second movie in a series like this and that audiences need a lot more than the first to get knocked out again.

Personally, I think he'll do it.

By no transformers without humans/supporting characters, do you mean the movie/s or the cartoons? There have been several cartoons with zero humans in them.

I do agree that human involvement in Transformers stories is a vital element, especially to the classic themes of the franchise.

I once addressed the topic at length here: http://forums.TFormers.com/talk/index.php?...=0#entry1196777

I do not however see much romantic value beyond the standard, "Hero must win love interest" notion in Transformers story telling.

Quite frankly the Sam/Mikala relationship was poor window dressing at best. She was portrayed as being shallow and image obsessed, but then goes for Sam. I couldn't see her maintaining interest in him beyond a week after they dropped Megs into the ocean.

Sam didn't seem to have interest in any girl beyond a desire to hump their leg.

At best this "romance" was basically a story about two hormonally unbalanced people stuck in a foxhole.

My prediction is that Sam will TRY to get to third base and fail miserably.

Bay did say they were going to work Shia's crushed hand into the story...

I never said the first movie was 99% love story. The only thing I'm ragging on the first for was not developing the transformers enough, ESPECIALLY the Decepticons. I AM saying that the sequel does not need a stupid love story beyond "Guy has girl from first movie and they have sexy scenes in a yellow transformer right before they almost get blown the fuck up by Decepticons at the beginning of the movie."

Love stories where the relationship gets really screwed get complicated and lame and slow really fast, which would A. Not suit Bay's style and B. Not suit the action I crave, as well as the character development of the Transformers that was so absent from the first.

I hope they don't waste time focusing on the relationship stuff. Just give me robots, damnit!

So I take it you didn't like the 86 movie which was a bunch of robots just beating the crap out of each other.

Personaly, and I'm watching it now on HBO(I can't wait till I can go out drinking on the weekends again), I couldn't give a crap less about either of them returning in TF2. Megan Fox is very pretty, but also pretty trivial to an ongoing plot, which means to fit her in yeah, it'll probably be a bunch of relationship BS with these two.

It Transformers, not LifeTime.

I do agree though that in a live action movie you do need a supporting cast, and personaly, I'd like to have seen Rachael Taylor return. I think she's both prettier and more entertaining in general. I bet a plot with her character in it would be much better too.

Think about it, instead of, "Hey everyone, now Sam's in college, and we're gonna work in some of those robots you like"

Or we could have, "Hey everyone, more robots are arriving and the Decepticons seem to be up to something, and the person who first learned how to track and understand them is furthering relations with these new arivals in general while heading a team that keeps an eye on potental harmful activities"

Yeah, Sam going to school and dealing with his girlfriend is a much better way to go.

Screw them both. I want Rachael back.
