i wouldn't want to see an exact rehashing of g1 but i'd like to see a re-creation of it. the most important part is getting back to making single adventures that follow the overall premise and not having every episode tied together as part of one big story.

 

by not having every episode tied together it allows for more of a range of creativity. i think it would also be kinda fun if when they had scenes on cybertron they had cameo's by characters from other lines (like background extra's or something).

 

i think if the movie is a big hit we just might see this happen. it would be too good of an opportunity to pass up.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Thad (yes, I am 'roy' on Lexicon). But I don't think the first scene of 'Grimlock's New..." would make it past the censors (or many other things for that matter).

 

Also, I don't think the question is 'if', I think it's 'when' Hasbro updates the G1 story. And my guess for 'when' would be 2006. Cybertron will come to a close (thus finally putting an end to that god-awful Armadaverse), and the G1-based movie is tentatively scheduled to be hitting the big screen.

like what? New characters instead of Prime and Megs as leaders? What is it that you would find refreshing and still allow the property to maintain some form of recognition? Just having robots that transform doesn't make it "The Transformers" (go-bots anyone) at least in my humble opinion

 

I agree that the movie is the best thing to happen to the property in a long time in terms of mass media, and it will (as someone said) probably spawn a G1 similar cartoon. I guess what i mean is properties like the X-men, Spiderman and GI Joe all maintained the same characters just with minor tweeking in terms of updating personalities and style, but it was always the same Peter Parker and the same Cobra Commander. But in the Transformers, we have now had Six or Seven Optimus Primes and just as many Megs and versions of other characters... why no consistancy?

I would love it if like what Diesel said, that's not another bad anime. I've always thought it would be awesome if they would start from the begining, and instead of the volcano erupting in 1984 that it erupted today. That way they could give all the Character updated looks and origins. They could even work with the dreamwave team for the stories and origins. As for the animation I would love to see the company that is ding the animation for M.E.G.A.S XLR they really have a nack for animation Giant Robots. NICE!!!

They've been redoing G1 ever since RiD. Teh snooze....... Come up with something new, Hasbro!

 

(Which would of course alienate 50% of Transfans the way BW did. So it won't happen as long as their Power Rangers-inspired marketing scheme keeps working. [i.e. reboot the series every year or so.] Of course BW happened to be the best thing that ever happened to Transformers, from a story standpoint.)

you forgot bw megs, although he is from the g1 continuity.
