Review - Video of Animated Deluxe Oil Slick

Recommended Posts

Size comparisons! OMFG I started falling asleep right then and there! Actually before I passed out I turned it off.

It is quite apparent that Sean took all the advice we all gave him on his last epic review (what was the figure again?) and dished out second helpings.

I'll give the guy credit though, for a mid 20"s to 30"s guy who would more or less have a life out side of toys, this guy sure as hell has alot more heart for this hobby than I do to take such time and effort to put on these episodes. Not my kind of thing.

On a good note, Oil Slick sure looks cool.

Hey Guys, Thanks for all the feedback. First off I appreciate all the tips and I will admit since I became a partner on youtube and now have no time limit on my reviews I got more relaxed in compacting my reviews. I do tend to ramble for as much I think I'm be detailed and helpful I know to a lot of people it can be boring and long.

I know that a lot of people do things differently in reviews wether just focusing on certain key points, adding their opinions, giving character background, or adding humor. My method is giving as much info as possible in everything you want to know even if I'm not the quickest about it.

I will make sure on my future reviews to be more on point even if I am detailed and doing all the key points I need to do it more timely.

So I apologize for the long reviews I just want to do really good detailed reviews and now I will work on my time.

Thanks again for the feedback

For the record, most of what he and I do review-wise is volunteer work. For my written reviews, it can take up to 2hrs to do photo shoots, work with the figure to find all the nuances, craft the written review and make the news posts. For those who think there's something to gain by doing this, it's way off track. While we do get some compensation, it's not something to make any of us make this a full time job.

Now, if someone wants to do this for the sake of seeing their name in lights, more power to them. I do it because I feel it offers a wanted service to the fan community. If the fans didn't want me doing reviews, I'd stop. It's that simple. The positive feedback helps keep me going, and the negative feedback make me rethink some things. But this thread seems to have several instances of bashing which I don't think is entirely fair, considering he is doing this mostly for free.

I will agree on some points here. 22min is extremely long for a review of ANY type. A review should be viewed (or read) in 5min MAX. After that, you lose the audience. Look at any televised automotive review show. They spend maybe 5min on their feature for the week and about 2-3min on the remainder of their segments. I try to keep my reviews concise and informative while reducing the blather quotient. Get to the good points, the bad points, form a short opinion and be done with it. Also, there is alot of "filler" in the video reviews and it tends to take focus off the figure, where it should be. Keep to the point, and don't wander.

I applaud Sean on the fact that he's doing something he enjoys and feels it's a benefit to the fans here. I would also encourage him to take the opinions here, take the personal sting out of them, and devise a way to incorporate these opinions into streamlining future reviews.

Couldn't get through his 28 minute(!!!!) review of Classics 2.0 Galvatron... This isn't any better... I prefer Optibotimus' reviews of these two figures better. I don't mind video reviews, or even Sean Long's reviews, but if it's past the 15 minute mark, which is pushing it, it had better have something to duct tape my attention to it!
