what i didnt like:

 

I wasnt a fan of how much time they spent on meltdown I'd much rather they did a little more with the dinobots

 

swoop and sludge not talking still (i think they can its just that they were not given any lines)

Fanzone i do like I even giggled at the phone gag

 

I did like how the dinobots wepons all burst into flames as soon as meltdowns goons show up

I would have liked to have seen more of the Dinobots in robot form. That's really my only major gripe.

 

I wasn't too sold on the character Fanzone when the show first premiered either, but I have to say I really liked the character interaction between him and Prowl in this episode. It was nicely done, and showed Fanzone may just have a place in the new series. That is as long as he doesn't just end up reverting back to his "I hate machines" personality in future episodes.

Though the phone bit at the begining was funny. I couldn't help but laugh at that.

 

Also, I don't really hate Meltdown as much as other TF fans seem to. I think given his ability, he makes for a suitable foe for the series. Also I feel him and other "human" villains work well for the show because it saves the Decepticons for being a bigger deal then just run of the mill villains.

There are some copyright issues. Why do you think Shockwave became Shockblast etc. So that could have something to do with it, them loosing the copyright.

 

The super powered villains I don't mind, I loled at the Angry Archer but the Professor Princess was a bit stupid really...

 

I'm liking these Dinobots - GIMME THE TOYS!

Yes, that explains Optimus Prime appearing in Beast Wars. Or Optimus, Jazz and who-ever as the Ancient Original Transformers in Cybertron/Galaxy Force.

Maybe there was an exception for BW since the entire cartoon was CG while G1 was cell animation? Hell, maybe the laws changed since then.

Yeah, or you could be just simply wrong, and it has nothing to do with copy-right issues.

 

I don't know why this is even being argued, it's not like the Pretenders were even in the Sunbow toons to begin with. Besides that they don't even exist as their own company any more, they belong to some distribution company in the UK now that could probably care less. But more than anything Hasbro gets the last word on who does what with their characters. They just needed two monsters and decided to use a tribute rather than create their own. They've got that Frankenstein's Monster look just to add emphasis to the fact that they were human experiments that Melt Down "transformed". Making them exactly like their G1 counterparts would have been dumb and unnecessary IMO.

Also, was anyone else bothered slightly by Ratchet's comment about the Dinobots ("Robot Dinosaurs? Impossible!")?

 

He fought them in "Blast From The Past".

I think he thought it's impossible that they'd still be around, since he didn't know that Prowl and Bulkhead hid them away on Dinobot Island.

 

Maybe, but it still sounds odd to me.

 

Since no one knows that Prowl and Bulkhead hid them away and didn't tell anyone, didn't anyone else think "oh, that's weird - they just disappeared?"

I thought it was a good episode. Sari is growing on me. The phone gag with Captain Fanzone was priceless. I'm glad he's starting to lighten up on his "I hate machines" bit, although I don't think he should go completely 180 the next time we see him. I like the Dinobot's magma weapons. The "flame on" effect at the end was neat. I'm not the biggest Meltdown fan but I really liked this episode and the Pretender's nod was awesome.

Just watched the episode. I liked it,it was pretty good. I was like 'OMG ! That's Bomb Burst & Submarauder!' when they showed up in that pit. I just finished watching TF Masterforce last week,and it was like dejavu. Very cool homage to the Pretenders line. I thought this episode was gonna lead more into the Headmasters story,but it was over before I knew it. Can't wait for next week !

You know, if they're going to start messing up continuity like they did in G1, then I'm not going to bother to figure out it all fits together and instead, I'll accept each new revision as a retcon.

 

So I guess this means that Ratchet never fought the Dinobots now. The old bastard must have been off dozing somewhere.
