You guys let me start with this

1st: 90% isopropyl alcohol is too strong, look for 70% or dilute the 90 a little. it will take longer, but you will have better control over the final result

2nd: this is everyones last warning about this bickering and shit in the threads the next one that says something remotley flamelike is getting a Warn and a Week off!!! no exceptions

Sonray if you are getting tired of Rhinox go to his profile and under options choose ignore user

no more attacks, in defense or offense will be tolerated

Why are you singling me out here? I havnt spoken to Rhinox at all in the past 1 and a half pages! wtf?!

Anyways...im not sure why alcohol can be "too strong"...does it crack plastic or melt it or something if its too strong? Ive never had this happen before.

Let's all learn more about rubbing alcohol here.

dont worry about the first part, I was giving advice, not singling you out

the "too strong comes from problems I have had with alcohol running where I dont want it, with a diluted solution it will be less likely to remove what you want to keep, on the nosecone it shouldnt be an issue, but on the fire damage if the solution is too high, when it runs it could do damage to other painted areas, a weaker solution, wether it be paint thinner or alcohol will give you time to clean up

From what I've read on here, Rhinox needs a week off and a warning. That guy is messed up in the head or something. Nobody did anything to him really and in two threads he attacked Sonray and that Archlebee guy. some more too in othersbut thats usually how it works, someone dooes it then when someone defends theirself they get in trouble. Just my observation, just joined, dont boot me. Jeez.

I'll just go ahead and add that with my experience, 90% is much easier to use. I've never had any kind of problems with the plastic surfaces afterwards, at least up to this point. I found the 70% was harder to work with, although it's better for surfaces that are painted and then detailed on top--if you just want to get rid of the detail. (Stripes, markings, etc.)

Another good one is Brasso. It's good on both regular and clear plastic surfaces. Takes a bit of elbow grease, and it doesn't smell all to great, but it's safe.

I don't think Goo Gone is too great, if only because I believe it fogs clear plastic pretty easily. At the very least, you have a couple of better options anyway, so you might want to skip this one.

Welcome aboard SupaJimmy. Some strong opinions right out of the gate there!

Now that you mention it, I think I did use 70% alcohol.

Hey tom, think u could post some pics of the finished product?

problems I have had with alcohol running where I dont want it

Use alcohol swabs or a dipped q-tip? You have to make sure it's not the kind of q-tip with the plastic base though, or you could easily mar the weakened plastic.

Alternatively, if you're patient you can use 70% and just wet your fingers and rub.

Don't try taping the area off though. That just makes the alcohol seep under the edge and gives it an opportunity to sit there. When you pull the tape off you'll discover a nasty edge on the paint app you were trying to protect.
