G1 vs. Armada

Recommended Posts

I don't like them shouting it out But I do like the Pretty transformations.

I can't stand it when half the show is just seeing the characters in extreme action poses with fireworks flashing all around them (Armada, Energon). Give us a break!

but it is better than G1's morphing and parts coming from nowere

on blaster blues on some wrecked cars there seems to be some human blood on a windscreen, i never got to see the final battle on unicron unfortunatly, but i do agree that the movie killed tfs in the 80s, wheeljack created some waterskis so the autobots could drive across water, i guess g1 felt more realistic and more friendly as they did interact with the humans

Right........ and like a giant 2 ton robot could actually stay on waterskis and drive across the water, oh man thats so realistic. :roll

Do you know what would happen if you put a robot on water ski's or a car for that matter in water? It would sink! and dont give me crap about boats floating made from water because they float because they are hollow and because there shape, transformers are not.

I'm not flaming or being mean, but actually with enough propulsion heavy objects can rise and skim above the water using hydrofoils. And boats float due to displacement and buoyancy you don't need a certain shape just enough buoyancy. Below are a couple of examples.:thumb

As much as I like G1, Armada is the superior series. Armada features the greatest Megatron of all-time...

well thats chocolate and vanilla for you. I thought Arm Meg's character was pale in comparison to BM Megs. Good, just not as good. Well, whatever floats your boat! :)

True, BM Megatron was an awesome villian to be sure, but just about nearly ALL of his schemes were actually conjurred up by his former mentor, Cryotek. The golden disc theft, the plan to alter history in the Decepticon's favor, the virus, and the spark extractors were ALL Cryotek's ideas and inventions. And while infecting everyone with that virus and wiping out the entire populace minus Nightscream, was certainly one of the most evil and sinister acts performed in TF history (this or any other), I prefer the way A-E Megatron conquered Cybertron, by successfully leading his army into battle with the Autobot forces still on Cybertron, defeating them, and claiming the planet as his. It says alot more about his leadership abilities than a guy who just moments earlier was seen hog-tied to Maximal's shuttle as their war trophy. ;) That, and he took control of Unicron.

I suppose I could just be abit too nitpicky, afterall at the end of day BW-BM Megs still got the job done. He took over Cybertron and basically became a god just before his defeat at the end of BM. That's still impressive for a villian in what's ultimately a kid's show. But I still prefer the way A-E Megatron led his troops and how his followers admired him and looked up to him like a father figure. Oh, and he's controlling Unicron. :thumb

But like you said, chocolate to vanilla. A-E Megatron was the superior leader, while BW-BM Megatron was the greater evil.

Ahhh But Megatron tricked Cryotek twice! Once with the golden disk and again when he transfered his beast form to Cryotek and put him in a coma. Trick me once shame on you, trick me twice shame on me.

ahem... both G1 and Armada have their own faults and strengths... i would be ashamed if this topic descended to the point where it's another purist-vs-non purist battle...

Not reading through all the pages of posts, so sorry if this has been covered. We'll start with toys:

Overall the articulation of Armada is better, but given that the toys were designed 2 decades later, they'd F'n better be. In terms of looks, I'd say that for robots it's a toss up, whereas with vehicles I'd say that G1 easily wins. And there are cases of G1 toys being far better than Armada toys (Armada Jetfire isn't fit to carry G1 Jetfire's jockstrap). The minicons gimmicks were OK at best, whereas the true gestalts of G1, the triplechangers and several other gimmicks were nothing short of awesome. Ultimately, I can say that G1 was heads and tails over any other toyline prior to and current with it. Armada was a big step back from G2, BW, BM and RiD.

Show: Like with the toys, G1 blew it's contemporaries away. Armada was an unwatchable joke compared to nearly all other cartoons on against it. But, forget that, I'll just compare these two shows as if they were contemporaries. G1 still kicks Armada's ass. Let's take it by the numbers:

I had no trouble watching Armada, so obviously you're either a liar or your opinion is wrong. G1 is a pile of crap from the 80's that most kid's don't know about, and I'm glad, or they'd probably hate Transformers if they knew how crapty it was in the 80's. All you oldass guys need to grow up and move on.

You mean the same oldass guys that are making the Armada/Energon toys and cartoons you love so much? My bet is that the people who came up with Armada/Energon were G1 fans at one point. Are you also saying that 10 years from now, you'll have to move on and you'll no longer be able to play with your TFs?
