Hi everyone complains about armada being bad but I loved armada personly with all the mini cons and stuff. I bought a g1 dvd and thought this is the great G1?

And then everyone was complanig about OP not being very poseible. I bought Powermaster OP with Apex from G1 and I thought the same thing you guys thought about Armada OP.

You're forgetting that Powermaster Prime came out like 15 years or so before Armada Prime. Posability made leaps n bounds since the 80s.

As much as I like G1, Armada is the superior series. Armada features on-going story arcs, conflicted characters (Starscream and Wheeljack), characters with a tragic past (Hot Shot and Wheeljack), comedic characters (Cyclonus), the greatest Megatron of all-time, a deep, incredible story which nothing in G1 can ever hope to even touch, and set the stage for Energon. And it's success allowed for the existance of Universe and Alternators/Binaltech.

Yeah, G1 may have started it all and it was and still is an awesome series, but that was because it was a fairly original and unique idea at the time, it had fewer competing toylines and cartoons, and it's competitors weren't nearly as good.

unfortunately, things like "story arcs" didn't really matter much in the 80s...which is why you'll see almost no cartoons back then had story arcs...not Thundercats. Not TMNT. Not He-Man. Not She-Ra. Not GI Joe. Care Bears maybe. :)

Greatest Megatron of all time? I believe our friend the Walther would have ground him into dust....Armada Megatron couldn't lead ant-droids to a picnic...

EDIT - on second thought...G1 Megs suffered from 80s Villain buffoonery.. still, he had a lot more troops under his rule. Armada Megs was more like the manager of some crummy band than the leader of the Decepticon Empire.

Good points didnt we first start seeing this with beastwars, some advanced machinery that is. they probably do it now to remind the kids what they are watching but it is not that new. I remeber watching voltron as a kid and thinking that everyone should know that Keith would make the head.

hahaha i always used to make fun of that.

"and I'll Form the Head."

NO SH@T!!!! :thumb

Okay everyone complains about Armada having too many repaints and remolds but G1 has 10X the repaints and remolds

Examples

infreno and Graple

Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker

Prowl, Smokescreen, Bluesteark along with many others.

Red alert and Side swipe

Part of Optimus and Magnus

Ironhide and Rachet and many more

ppl don't care when there new charectors like G1, its when the repaints are

Energon super-duber-nito-turbo X-treem Pwerlinx Hotshot, they get mad.

i totally agree... in fact, on a mechanical world, it would be logical to use a successful schematic again and again.

Repaints should always be new characters.... and i honestly would have absolutely no problem buying every repaint if they had different heads too. yeah, that kinda defeats the purpose of a repaint from a money-saving P.O.V., but...cmon. you know that if the silver Hot Shot was called Camshaft or something, and had a different head, it'd be a totally different story.

Marcixmus - Every single TF line has had repaints. RID was in fact, mostly repaints. of the 42 bots i have, only 16 are original molds. of the 22 preds/d-cons, only 3 are original molds. I'm not upset with Armada having repaints.

but xbob is right - getting powered up and changing color is SILLY.

hey peteynorth - just wanted to say that "that's the most beautiful..." is one of my FAVORITE lines from G1. nice reference.

Well, not exactly.

The seekers were actually different characters, not just the same ONE painted over and over again. And they were treated as such in the show.

Inferno and Grapple....*Sigh* look closer, Grapple was a remold and had different parts.

Prowl and the others...*Double Sigh* really, put on some glasses! Not only were they remolds, they also had completely different color schemes and characterizations.

Red alert/Sideswipe...REMOLD! DIFFERENT CHARACTERS! DIFFERENT COLOR SCHEMES!

Prime/Magnus...well the cab is the same, except for the color, characterization and THE FACT THAT ULTRA MAGNUS COULD COMBINE WITH HIS TRAILER THAT FORMED A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT LOOKING ROBOT.

Ironhide & Ratchet. I'll give you that one...oh wait...actually, NO. He was actually slightly remolded for the Ratchet version.

I also see you left out Trailbreaker and Hoist. Could that be because one was a 4x4 and the other was a tow truck? Or that their head sculpts were different? Or that they were completely different colors? Or that they were seperate characters?

Oh yeah, these guys were all exactly the same aside from paintjobs.

:roll :roll :roll :roll :roll :roll

Armada really didn't have any remolds. Just a new paintjob and the prefix "Powerlinx" added to the original characters' name. Lazy.

well let me say this, i like some others grew up on G1. i was very dissappointed in G2, robot masters, action masters, and most of the other master. but when i saw RID i was like being 8 and finding starscream in kmart all over again. i didnt care that they changed everything, i was just happy to see some real tf's doing some real tfing again. then when i saw bw it was the same i didnt care much for most of the toys but i drove 80+ to get home in the mornings to see it. and i was in my mid-20's. it has been the same with each new carnation for me. i absolutely love my G1 toys. i woulndt take anything for them. and for fathers day 2 years ago my wife gave me armada prime just to see that 8 year old look on my face. this year shes getting me omega sentinel for christmas (and a bar for our place) for the same reason. for me its not about being armada or G1 or evergon or bw if it is a tf i like it for the premise. the weakest story in the weakest series was worth every second and every penny i spent and probably more for the value i place on enjoyment. this forum is for people who talk about everything that makes THIS LINE great, not which line is better. the best thing said so far by anyone on this topic is we are all tf fans thus the name of the forum. i hate to see anyone downing any line, they are all great to me.

but these are only opinions.

...we're on this thread again?...

BRB, I guess it's my turn to re-start the "Wheeljack will be Brakedown" thread...

Tip for you shockwave2005:

When you're arguing against someone that says there were many repaints, and you state that the figures have 'different colors' or 'color schemes' or 'paint apps' your arguing against yourself.

Really, I'm in the "Every Series has its good points" camp. G1 had its good points (though, -most- of those weren't in the animations) as did BW. And BMac. And RiD. And so on and so forth. Better is what you enjoyed more, arguing otherwise is ridiculous.

The only thing I didn't like in Armada, and I should say I hated really, was that Megs and Prime were supposed to be the leaders of their -armies- and controlled half a world each. Then they start out with 3 minions for the baddies and 2 for the goods? That was just lame. Even if Smokescreen joined up it wasn't from ep1. I was bugged that they just did the, "Let's call in the new guy" style. It would have been nicer if they took all the toys that had planned out, slapped them onto animation guides, and gave a dozen warriors on each team from the get go. THEN it would feel like it was two armies fighting one another.
