Soundwave MP3 Player "Wave Blaster"

Recommended Posts

I got bored. Had an idea and 1/2 ran with it. I say 1/2 because to be honest...it doesn't WORK...not yet. Problem is the speakers are not powerful enough as is, and I have to tinker around to find some that are. But the almost functional mock up will work. I'm rather surprised this has not been thought up sooner.

At any rate, question...how can a CD rack help with an MP3? Simple, chop the spindle up!

I took your standard cheapie ear plug speaker set and the cylinder of a CD spindle to make a (almost) working "Wave Launcher" for MP3 Soundwave.

Rather simple, cut to length, sand off and level out the ends. Drill a hole dead center, and widen it using progressively larger drill bits. Use a razor knife to widen the end and plug holes. Fit the wire in the hole after seperating and stripping, snug the plug in place, just enough room for a nice smooth fit. Connect the speaker wires with the mini speakers, test, and then mount. Place on the covers and there you go!

I broke one upon removing the original housing of the headphone set, and the remaining speaker was simply not loud enough to continue in repair work for both. Once I find a old un used and louder speaker of similar size I can try again. But for now it just looked pretty good. The original idea was to make it so the speakers could swivvle, so it could work in MP3 player mode as well.

Oh and incase your wondering, I did not use (at least I HOPE I didn't) the speakers that came with Soundwave, I used a crummy one from the dollar store.

Enjoy the picts, been awhile since I was inspired to make something...though as usualy, it's not completed...

Backfire aka The Weeter

good idea =)

Nice idea. Im currently using a 100 yen external speaker that sits well enough on soundwave in bot mode. all his mp3's are just voice samples of him from the g1 carton, so i have a "talking" soundwave bot!

I've been thinking of this bash too.

And probably dozens of other people too,but you actually ran with it. Yay! maybe i have motivation now, cause i have seen it can be done.

I might put in sound samples too,so i can have myself a CLASSICS soundwave. ^_^

I like the figure,i got it two months ago but STILL haven't bought some damn batteries and an SD card.

DAMN IT, I WAS GONNA DO THIS!!! oh well, im glad someone else is messing their SW up, and not me, let us know how well this works out.

Oh teh noes!!!!1111ONE this totally means you can't do this anyway,omegaprime1983! ;-D

Just messing with ya.

But since this bash is about practicality, not appearance. i don't see any reason you can't do this bash anyway.

I see a reason... I dont know how to do it.... but thats ok, I wanna find some speakers that will give off a lot of sound, and from what backfire said, his doesnt. I will try it at some point tho..

Me too, would be totally awesome to have a soundwave that actually makes sound without poking a big white cable through your skull.

Be jealous, everyone. i have the spark blue edition. :tfevil I would've bought the Soundblaster edition if he was out when i bought ml wavy.
