Secondly, having a dinosaur is kind of awkward considering the context of the movie is realism.

No one seemed to have a problem with skorpinok...

Scorponok's robot mode was the scorpion mode. His alt mode was as part of Blackout's engine.

So his alt mode served him rather well, as it was able to get him into the heart of a US military base

before taking off after Lennox and crew. Furthermore, Scorponok's scorpion-based robot mode allowed him to tunnel

underground, where he wouldn't be spotted until he decided to strike.

With the Dinobots you would have the alt modes being robotic dinosaurs, alt modes which they more then likely wouldn't

use in a stealthy fashion.

when it comes to the dreamwave and idw comics grimlock has always struck me as being the type of person that is more brawn then brains by all outward appearances

but is in reality very intelligent in a very much deceptivly unintelligent manner of speaking , has a short temper and at times an even shorter fuse.

all together he strikes me as being in some part a take on the russians in that regard but those are just my thoughts

I seriously don't think including all of the dinobots (vehicle or dinosaur) is a good idea. It would mean less time for other new/existing characters to be developed. Too many characters being introduced too soon runs the risk of them being soulless.

They might get away with including one Dinobot, but not all.

As for Scorponok (why do so many people have trouble spelling his name?!? That and Devastator) in the movie he was essentially a drone rather than a fully fledged Transformer.

Say what now?

Says you! Just because he was small and a bug doesn't mean that he can't feel, and love! :tfsad

Really though, given the degree of characterization the 'Cons got in the movie, what's the real difference between Scorponok and Blackout?

In my eyes, making the Dinobots anything other than Dinosaurian robots -> Robotic Warriors is like making ThunderCracker a tank.

I think that there are many ways that the Dinobots could work as dinos that transform to robot warriors. First off that pic up further demonstrates very well that they would indeed fare well in modern warfare. Especially when you take into account that in the cartoon, and comics the Dinobots flew. So SS is basically screwed. Secondly say they crash near a Jurassic excavation, the biggest things around to scan would be the dino bones. Third what if they had come from a planet where dinos or dinoesque creatures still roam and assume that they might still roam some where here on earth and later find that they were wrong but it's too late to change so they just make due, and kick some Decepticon tail in their earth dino forms. Also lets assume that Big Grim, and his crew won't just let Megs get away, and followed him unknown to the other Autobots to bring Megs to justice for what he did to their buddy Bumblebee in the prequel to the movie.

Now the Prequel starts out with the words One Million years before the dawn of man. I know that Dinos were 365 million years ago. So if they couldn't scan any mechanical devices to blend in with out terrifying the animals, and protohumans they would need some organic alt modes their size so they check out the surroundings and nothing of their size is available or suitable so they scan the rocks for fossils like in Beast Wars, and bingo Dinos similar to their modified Cybertronian war modes. (They did after all partake in the gladiatorial events Megs held to find his new recruits.) So they scan the bones and go looking for Megs. Once they find him frozen in ice they leave him to his icy prison and stay on earth to ensure he doesn't escape. After a couple millennia they check his ice prison and find that there is still no sign of emp or robotic heart beat from him so they go into a cave and put their selves into stasis and get up every couple hundred thousand years to check on their prisoner.

Jump forward to movie 2 Ratchet notices a group of Autobot energy signatures activate and goes to investigate it only to find a very grumpy Grimlock and crew who just checked on their prisoner and he isn't there. SS returns with a huge gaggle of Decepticon warriors and chaos, and mayhem ensue.

Bay has confirmed no robot dinosaurs.

Doesnt mean we can't have tank Grimlock.
