Transformers' COLORS in the movie

Recommended Posts

I know there's already been a lot of talk about alt modes, size change, etc. in TF movie-related threads. But what about color? If they're going for a "realistic" look, what do you think that may (or may not) mean for the TFs' color schemes? I imagine the 'Cons would be more affected by this than the 'Bots, since they're mainly military hardware, and a car could be pretty much any color you want. So does that mean that (for instance) if Megatron is a tank, that he would be beige or camo colors? That Starscream and any other jets in the movie would be gray? What do you guys think?

Makes sense.... I mean who ever heard of a white tank? and there is no way that that is a disguise of any kind

Also, i think that the transformers should have a weekness of some kind that the humans can exploit. Other wise why even disguise themselves from us when they could just blow our assess away

Well that's a good point -- what are the 'Cons hiding from? Would they really be interested in alt modes as "disguises"?

maybe the Altmodes are simply weapon upgrades for the 'cons giving them more firepower and tougher armor? Maybe they shouldn't be able to fly unless they are a jet in thier alt mode. Like Megs couldn't fly at all and Starscream could only fly in ALt mode

Why do you guys always assume the disguise is for the -humans-?

The TFs had the ability to transform and disguise themselves -4 million years ago-. They disguise themselves to get the drop on their enemies.

correct, but even an autobot could pick a white tank out of a line up of human tanks....

and jets with red/blue/purple color schemes?

forget the color schemes giving them away. what about the big purple decepticon symbol they like to wear on their wings?

Yeah that's a bit of a giveaway.

Personally, I always thought the whole "disguise" thing was a bit overrated as a tactical advantage. I mean, after the first few times, wouldn't the Autobots just learn to recognize the 'Cons and blow them away from a distance?

Come to think of it, why even transform in the first place, when you could just build a vehicle to drive/fly around in? (But now I'm going off-topic on my own topic.)

BTW, DLP: I assumed the "disguise" was for the humans b/c the original Transformers turned into Earth vehicles.... (call me crazy) The Cybertronian alt modes in MTMTE were just a way to explain why these guys would even transform in the first place.

BTW (Part Deux): I TOTALLY agree about the TFs being earthbound unless their alt mode allows them to fly. I mean, WTF? Soundwave and Megatron just launch themselves into the air??? If they ain't going for shrinking robots, they sure as hack ain't gonna go for levitating ones.

Nah dude, the Earth vehicles was because the computer on board the Ark thought that the Earthen vehicles were the dominant life form on the planet.

Well, right -- I get that. I was just speaking from a writing standpoint (explaining the premise etc.). But I think it's pretty clear from the G1 cartoon that the whole "disguise" thing was meant to fool humans. I don't think "Robots in disguise" was supposed to mean "robots hiding from other robots." I mean, how many times in G1 did you have the "hey, that's not my tape player" scenario? I can't really think of any times when another *Transformer* was fooled by a TF in its alt mode. (There may be some though...)

OKay -- off-topic again!

Red, white and blue Starscream? Yes? No? Discuss.
