What an Authentic Jetfire would of looked like in G1

I don't think I've ever seen commericals for Jetfire before.. but I think they must of borrowed some pre production skecthes of the character to make the animation for the commerical.. because having skyfire there would be like false advertising. :tflaugh

Yeah, I think I have this ad somewhere on DVD ;)

interesting how he's got the Autobot creating him origin.

this was quite obviously made before Fire in the Sky

That is interesting considering that Jetfire also had a Decepticon origin in the comics too. But hey, that's toy continuity for ya. ;)

That would have been great also, just as great as having a toy that looked like the dude in the cartoon.

He could have been the most show accurate toy if they didn't include Skyfire instead

That actually looked pretty damn sweet... but still similar enough to the Robotech/Macross VF-1S that the animation studios could've sued had it made it into production. Oh well.

Wow that was very awesome!

Anime Jetfire looks pretty kick ass, more so than Skyfire, who I always thought was lame - in the anime he usually got shot up by Starscream or some other Con and in the comic I mostly remember him getting all emo with Buster at Christmas.

I guess, as has been said previously, a character design based on the toy would have breached the intellectual property rights of Studio Nue (in Japan anyway), Hasbro bought the licence for the toy mould from Takatoku Toys who themselves had acquired the Super Dimension Fortress Macross licence from Nue to produce toys based on the TV show. Bandai acquired Takatoku in 84 and were not too happy that the Jewel in Takatoku’s crown, VF-1 Valkyrie, had been licensed to Hasbro for a Western release.

On a side note there is also a pre production anime Megatron in the G1 Optimus Prime TV commercial. He has a very different head to the Megs we all know and love.

To Jetfire's credit, he did lead the Autobot counter-offensive against Galvatron in Target:2006.
