Bay To Throw Fanboys Off Real "Transformers 2" Scent

Recommended Posts

:roll Just make a good movie. And stop trying to annoy the fans, even the ones that supported you. I think this is childish, he should be more concerned making the fans happy and not pissing off more the ones that whined before.

This is a pretty ghey thing to even say and makes him look even more childish (remember the wahhh wahhh wahh Im not going to make Transformers 2) good to know hes going to be and have more people wasting their time on this petty crusade as opposed to, oh I dont know, making movies.

Maybe some of the people in this thread can help me out. I don't see how, "I'm going to have people leak false info to keep you guessing because, as a filmmaker, I want what really happens in my movie to be a surprise for the audience" translates to, "I'm actively trying to enrage fans with childish games."

Well lets put it this way. Lets say a certain character is leaked that will be in the movie. You Hobbes get excited because you happen to think that it would be cool to see that character on screen. You are all supportive of the movie and Bay and stuff. But then later Bay says "Ha! suckers! This character is not in the movie! Your a bunch of morons!" Now I would imagine as a fan who is supportive would feel deceived. Further giving amo to the Bay haters against him.

So if false names, designs, story bits etc are leaked, do you think that will help or cause more damage in the fans?

What he needs to be sure is that no news are leaked if he wants to keep it private. Not be sticking a stick in a bees nest.

Except that Bay has responsibly given us all a warning. Now that I've got the warning, taking anything with more than a grain of salt is my own burden to bear, right?

It does seem a tad on the childish side to be honest. Maybe even foolish if his comments about changing some things due to fan input. And wait a minute... wasn't the first film done with a lot of fan input before as well?

If what he's saying is true, and he is going to be sending out more false information out than true, it looks like the mods and admins of this site and others have a tough choice to make. Do you allow discussion on the second movie before it comes out, knowing full well that the discussed info could be false. Or do you completely foribid discussion until the movie comes out?

Now, I might be completely off in left field here, but don't plot leaks usually generate MORE excitement for the movie? I mean, it gets people talking right? All this does, for me, is prove what an arrogant and pompous ass Bay is :tard .

For some reason I have a Leslie Gore song stuck in my head: "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to..."

I prefer to look at it like this.

Twenty some-odd years ago, if the internet was like it is today, when the animated movie was coming out, people would have had Optimus' death spoiled. What Bay is doing is essentially saying that he'll be throwing fake news stuff out into the internet to keep the people who would spoil everything on their toes and to leave things in the movie that you'll have to go to the theater to see.

How well this works is up in the air, but it's really no different from George Lucas calling Return of the Jedi "Blue Harvest" during filming so that people wouldn't be trying to find out all the secrets.

Yes, but again if the false news actually sounded cool in what we each personally like or want in the movie, as a fan it will be a certain degree of a let down if it doesn't happen. Especially if the news does not seem to be outrageous. Why try to devide the fans in determining what is true and what is not?

I just think he already has proven that he made a good movie for TF's. He should be above that, just tighten up security for leaks, if he wants to "wow" us more at the theatres.

Meh, I think the fans do a fine job of building themselves up and inevitably being let down because of their unrealistic expectations as it is. Bay's not causing any new problems. I really don't think this is the tragedy it's being made out to be.
