huh? newpaint job? f'ck dat!

get some paste rubbing compound and buff it out. if it can only be seen inches away it should take that much work. NO LIQUID compound. Take pics of before and after keep them as evidence.

Thanks for all the help..I just need to find the clay stuff, and yeah, not the liquid version. She's complaining that the sponge brush I used now has left MILLIONS of tiny swirl streaks on her paint finish..or, the glossy top layer..will buffing remove that do you think? Like the paint, you can't even notice it unless your nose is in it. She's being a toal Starscream about this..I'm trying my best to be calm, and nice about it..I know I'm partially to blame over it, some how my paint did make it about 20ft away from my porch and onto her car..but still..She's kinda starting to be unreasonable.

This stuff should be common. Walmart or Pep Boys or some other such store should carry it. I think even silly putty will work but I'm not sure.

Anywho, I don't think she could push for a paint job. A basic scuff and spray (including bumpers) costs $3,000 but would only be required if the car was painted already in the last month. Even then, only an etch or a two-part catylzed product could eat into it. An entire polish job can be from $300-$500. None of which I'd say are needed as it's only spray bomb. I don't recommend polishing it yourself. There's the risk of burning the clearcoat, polishing through edges, or even having the pad slip off which can dig a hole in the paint. The scratches you mentioned can be found on brand new vehicles on the showroom floor and hardly your fault. Anything that touches a painted surface will scratch it to some degree. This includes them fancy dry dusters, a chamois, or even applying wax.

Wish I could give some paint-removing advice, but that's not my thing. I'm better at being paranoid and avoiding court.

Document everything. Date and time of every time she's talked to you about this incident (or anything else that may have been said between the two of you in the mean time). If you can, dig up some records on her car, and possible reasons why a paint color you never used somehow appeared on her car. Where she works, if there happens to be any construction in the area (( I live in an area of perpetual road construction, so I don't doubt there's some yellow and white flecks on my car ))

Pictures. As high-quality as you can get. If you use a digital camera, leave the pics on the camera's memory (not on an SD card) so that no one can claim you photoshopped the paint off the car. If you use good old film, keep the negatives (those would be better in court, anyway).

Multiple shots of the "paint" from different distances. 20 feet, 10 feet, 5 feet, 1 foot... Multiple in between. If she asks, you can honestly tell her that you're asking other people for help on getting it off.

And, if all else fails, call in a "favor". $25 and a package of Twinkies, I can make the car disappear.

--Edit--

Don't know if this was mentioned before, but a friend sent me to this link:

-- Edit #2 --

I explained this to a friend and he had this to say:

"I'd tell [the neighbor] to repaint her car and send the bill to my lawyer so he can laugh at it and throw it away. ... If [the neighbor] can't prove that the paint wasn't there before-hand, then it wouldn't hold up in court. ... If [us and Them] is using acrylic, then it should come off with a good scrubbing and the clearcoat should protect the car's original paint job."

Then again, this friend has more experience with completely stripping paint off a car..
