I think the toy looks awesome. It may not have been the car Grimlock would have chosen for himself, but think about it: If he got destroyed and some humans rebuilt him... he wakes up and he's a mustang?

Me Grimlock no like!

That's ripe with character conflict and stuff. Makes me want an Alternators cartoon.

Anyway, I think it would have been genius to dispense with the humanoid robot mode for Grimlock and have the car turn into a T-rex.

I think Smokescreen and Silverstreak would be much more displeased with their alternate modes. "Sure, Im fast and handle great, but whats with the econo-car bodystyle???"

And I fully agree on ditching the robot mode for Grimmys T-rex mode instead. It would feel and look more recognizable as Grimlock that way. "But this isnt G1!" No, but it seems to be pushed as a spinoff of G1, that storyline was used as the basis for this line, so I think it should at least make sense. Still, this is going to be a great toy, and theres nothing wrong with thinking outside the box a little bit. You never know, Grimlock may get a brain upgrade along with the new body while still retaining his strength.

The new Grimlock looks great, but overall it kind of lost its essence of the original Grimlock. It's like the same thing with Bumblebee as a Mini Cooper (if it's actually a release, can some give me some confirmation?). The name and its character just don't go together. When I think of Grimlock, I think of something huge and powerful. When I think of Bumblebee, I think of him as a VW Beetle. I figure most of the Binaltechs/Alternators so far are close to what their original vehicle/alt mode are. Why not pit Grimlock or Bumblebee close to their original form and character? Granted I understand it's more a new line of a Transformers toy series. Still, I just can't get over it no matter how great the toys are. Perhaps, I'm just stuck on G1 mentality.

Whoohoo, they did big grim right this time around! Forget dinos, MUSTANGS ROCK!

Doesn't really matter what these alts come out as, I'll buy them all regardless. But, the point of this alternator line was for older fans who wanted to see their favs reborn. This is where the arguement over a yellow Tracks or a red Jazz come from, everyone wants to see almost exact originals in new car forms and have posability. I would have to say Grimlock is acceptable, but I'd rather have seen it as Wheeljack or someone else. Anyone at Takara/Hasbro reading this? Just a suggestion from a fan.

I'm gonna buy him and I'm gonna like it.

I admit I wanted the Mustang to be Prowl and the robot mode does kinda looks like Energon Hotshot but I've become more open minded. I realize that this toyline is for making Licensed model-like cars into G1 inspired transformers. So Thundercracker wont be a jet. Soundwave wont be a walkman. Powerglide wont be an airplane.

As lone as I like what the figure looks like I'll be buying it.

Yeah, I agree with what someone else said, he should have been a Hummer, or maybe a tank.

well i for one think he looks good, and who knows maybe we'll get swoop as a motorcycle.....

I, for one, think that naming the mustang Grimlock is friggin stupid. If the Alternators line is going to be exclusively cars, can we please NOT have characters in the line that were not originally cars? Please? I mean, it's a great looking transformer. It would make an excellent Windcharger or Overdrive or Downshift. But Grimlock? Give me a break! This is the worst decision in the Alternators line since turning a perfectly good Sunstreaker into a Decepticon.

I don't mind Grimlock as a Mustang, too much, but he really should be a larger car. They could have at least made him into a full sized sedan, something like the Mercury Marauder or Crown Victoria.
