Worst Mistake You Made When Buying Toys

Recommended Posts

Several weeks ago, I tried to win an Alt. Swerve and someone beat me to it by 20 seconds. I was not too happy. I tried again a week later, same thing happened. Grrr...why is he so hard to get?

about 10-12 years ago, i was in one of those little temporary shops that spring up near xmas, they had G1 Soundwaves (i think they were original, not sure when the re-issues started, and they werent KOs) for £10, i had only £10 on me so i decided to wait a few days till i had more money, but they were all gone when i went back...still 10 years later i got TRU Soundwave...so not too bad

I just have to say, please stay away from internet if you are drunk.

Buying RID Optimus Prime without trying it out first. Luckily I kept the receipt.

n00bs and Optimus Prime should NOT exist!

Fixed.

Fixed.

Please disregard, I liked Armada.

Yes.... when all else fails, blame "n00bs".

Fixed again, and I accept your apology.

And, having thought about it further, I would have to say my WORST mistake had nothing to do with buying toys - it had to do with an act of good will. In 1996, having decided that I no longer wanted or needed my childhood toys, I gave a poor family in my neighborhood all of my transformers and my old videogame consoles.

Yep - I regret that decision now.

Ten-years and several-hundred dollars later, I regret that decision.

Can we just agree to disagree? I mean, TASTES VARY, shock of shocks! I own RiD Prime, but he's a pretty lousy toy...Omega Prime is a display piece pure and simple...knock Armada all you want, but the Ratchet joint coming back into full swing means that guys like Unicron don't have the same arm or leg issue that Omega Prime does.

That's the problem - there is a cult/religion out that that worships Optimus Prime and whoever blasphemize the holy Optimus Prime and opinions a free thought that criticizes this perfect being must be shot down, demonized, and ostracized, even though the toy DOES suck, the worst you can say about it is "it'll grow on you".

Religious fanaticism aside, I stand by my statement that RID Optimus Prime sucks. If I wanted to buy a "Transformers" that requires more assembly than a typical Ikea furniture piece, I would buy a Bionicle set. RID Optimus Prime's only merit is that it looks pretty with its garish colours.

Oh, I know. Personally, I don't care about any of the characters per se. I just love the RID Prime figure. Granted, I don't play with these things, and I can see where his play-value would be limited - but I just love the figure itself.

Its one of my favorites in the last 10 years, actually.

Well really, the only character I ever see really hated on is Wheelie. You are a pioneer, my friend.

I can see how as a child, playing with a toy, RID Prime can be a pain in the arse. But if that was the main criteria; Alt/BT and MP would be the worst TFs EVER.

I agree, RiD Prime isn't my cup of tea either. Aside from the assembly problem I just think he looks more like Blaster then Optimus Prime.

The problem isn't that you criticized RiD Prime; I would guess that, if ranked, he would be near the bottom of a list of OP toys.

On top of that, it's not a big deal that you don't like Optimus Prime. He's not in my top three favourites (#5, personally).

The problem is that you seemingly go out of your way to drag the point that you don't like OP out. We get it, you don't like him, that's cool. You don't have to find a way to drag it into every conversation though.

I'm not saying that's the reality of the matter, but it's certainly the perception, IMO.

Blasphemy is when you remind people about how G1 cartoon Optimus Prime was a shallow one-dimensional cardboard cut-out of a saviour archetype character with a messiah complex. That's why I muchly prefer G1 comic Prime... he had this thing called personality depth and character development!! Gasp!

No, you're right. Truth be told, I don't hate Optimus Prime. In fact, I love the movie Optimus Prime figure. I just hate the people who worships it like some god. I originally said my biggest regret was buying RID Optimus Prime before the fanatics gave me the fire and brimstone speech.
