Bay: "There will never be an extended edition" of Transformers

Recommended Posts

Optimus: Have you found the glasses yet?

Sam: No, not yet.

Optimus: We really need those glasses.

Sam: I know, I know.

Optimus: They're important, you know.

Sam: I'm looking everywhere for them!

Optimus: Have you tried the dresser drawer?

Sam: It's empty.

Optimus: How about your nightstand?

Sam: Nothing but some old keys.

Optimus: How about between the matresses? I always forget something in there.

Sam: Nothing but some, uh, tissues.

What's would really suck is if the Blu-ray version (that's going to be released in the near future) has the extra 2 mins on it :tflaugh

Edit: What if the extra stuff is just Prime talking about how great IMax is? That would make since if it is never released on a home format...

The thing is, anything we'd *want* to see in an extended cut would be stuff involving robots, which would mean that ILM would have to be re-hired to go back and create CGI effects for those scenes.

I say this not knowing what's going to be in the IMAX cut, of course.... if there's something like Prime killing Barricade in that version, my angst will be mighty.

Why does everyone assume that the Imax stuff is some sort of afterthought.

Maybe ILM wont have to be rehired at all.

Maybe the producers directors and marketers planned ahead and stuff and asked ILM to create footage that they knew would only be used in a certain venue.

LOTS of dvd/special venue content is planned out well in advance of a trad. theatrical release.

I'm not assuming anything; I just have a bias towards words that have been said vs. words that haven't been said. Obviously I'd love an extra 30 minutes of robot footage (or two), but I don't get any real indication that that's likely.

Speaking o' words, we haven't heard anything about formats other than DVD yet. Tricky, tricky. I guess we'll just have to hope for deleted scenes to catch any extra footage that may be on the DVD.

You mean, like Blu-ray or HD? Cause Paramount's recent exclusivity with HD was big news.

Kinda a bummer but I'm not really gonna sweat 2 minutes of footage...I mean if those TWO minutes and only those TWO minutes open someones eyes to the transformers universe then that is kinda sad. How revealing could 120 seconds really be.....but totally gonna get the two disc edition when it comes out. :P
