Should there even BE a sequel?

Recommended Posts

I think people make personal connections to movies that they really like, and they can take it personally when someone criticizes those movies.

how about this. There should be a movie so there can be more toys. Even if the movie was as bad as the first there would be a bunch of new toys and we all know the toys are what is all about right? ..... right guys?......

the first movie was incredible and a box office phenomenon, deal with it.

Why is it so hard to accept the fact that not everybody liked the movie? Yes, it did indeed make an ass-ton of money, and ushered in a new wave of fans, but that doesn't mean that I have to love the movie.

No one's saying you have to love the movie, you're allowed to love, like, or hate whatever you want.

It just seems that those who didn't like the movie never really argue why in an intelligent manner. Rather, they resort to cheap one-liners they think are clever, but in reality amount to little more then flame-baiting.

If you disliked the movie, that's cool, and most of us who loved or liked it are willing to debate and discuss the movie's pros and cons in an intelligent manner.

"Clever" one-line pot shots, however, just annoy the general population, regardless of the meaning behind them.

I think its the fact that you stated that the movie was bad as if it were a fact when the vast majority of people who saw it actually liked it is why you got such a snappy response.

If you had of said something like "I didn't like the movie" or "I taught the movie was very bad" no one would mind because you're just stating your opinion.

I said it was bad not ReverendNash And it was taken out of context and I explained it in a previous post.

Lets get back to discussing the sequel kay?

My point was I would be happy with a sequel regardless of quality because it will mean more toys! Who’s with me?.... Nobody?.. Good.

I'd be more interested in a cool movie then cool toys. Toys ARE a nice side effect, though.

Given the choice Id pick good movie and terrible toys over good toys and terrible movie.

A sequel will come whether you like it or not. The first movie is an "origins" movie. There are plently of plotlines, but eventually some fan's gonna get their feelings hurt. Most people liked Scorponok the least, but who's to say they won't fill the next one with Insecticons and a big dumb dinosaur saying, "Me Grimlock...Me Hate Decipti-crackhead!" Sure, when I was 5, the big boy was up my alley, but not now. Now I wanna see CG's true potential: Shockwave, Seekers galore, Triplechangers (oh yeah, don't knock Astrotrain), Combaticons, Constructicons, Protecto...the list goes on.

The only defining factor will not be "which one's gonna die in 15 seconds next? or who's gonna have flame decals and racing stripes?"....it's gonna be up to a stellar script from some real fans that know the difference between a Brawl and a Devastator. Starscream originally made the Combaticons, remember? Or how about Jetfire, Starscream's old buddy from Cybertron, who was the original one to freeze in the Artic and became an Autobot? Fans want an Autobot flyer....Jetfire's your answer. He's huge!

Bottom line: Current technology is more than capable of breathing life into all these bad boys, and girls (didn't forget Arcee). All they have to do is not blow their budget on a big name celebrity and splurge on some writers that have done their homework. Transformers, in its self, may never be a story like Spiderman or Harry Potter, where we can relate on some level to the "human" characters, but alien stories can "bring the rain" if you know how to tell 'em. Spielburg won't let it get too stupid; alien stories are his bread and butter.

If hundreds of millions of $ isn't a good reason to make a sequel isn't a good reason I don't know what is.

As for the quality of Mr. Bay's "film". It was fantastic!*

*as long as you go play Galaga in the theater lobby for the 1st hour and a half...

Starscream originally made the Combaticons, remember?

I wish I didn't. Seriously, a space shuttle made from WWII wreckage? Say what you want about that extraneous hacker character in the movie, but Transformers storytelling has come a long way in 20 years.
