IT COMES IS DIESEL?!?! SWEET!!

I may actually get one now..

To not get the duramax diesel option would pretty much be the worst decision to make ever.

yeah but you realise you'll never be able to relax or get a good nights sleep with that heap in the driveway. It makes you a target for eco-terrorist jihad! :saw

This monstrosity practically cries out to have "climate-criminal" keyed across it. But I get the impression there's some who'd probably take that as a badge of honour.

Beautiful.

Absolutely Beautiful.

I assume, then, that you would endorse people purchase hybrid-powered vehicles such as the Prius ?

Take a look at the overall environmental impact of that vehicle - for gas mileage only slightly better than a 3-cylinder Geo Metro, hundreds of pounds of lithium are pulled out of the earth, machined into a highly toxic battery with a limited lifespan and then placed into circulation, where a severe accident could rupture the battery's containment and contaminate the environment in a direct and impactful way.

That makes nuclear power look safe and clean - do you endorse nuclear power?

Do you actually believe that our jet-setting environmental activists are offsetting the pollution they belch into the atmosphere by paying to have saplings planted?

This sort of attitude - the "eco-terrorist" idiocy - is precisely the sort of well-thought out ideology you get when you mix half-baked ideas and an inflated sense of personal value with an overwhelming sense of entitlement. "That guy is doing something I don't like/agree with, so its my right and responsibility to show him by whatever means I want, because what he's doing is worse than what I'm doing to him."

Bullhorns.

If that logic went both ways, and you assumed that if some individual were to enact physical violence or felonious vandalism upon you that their actions would be justified due to the strength of their beliefs, I would applaud you as a true believer. I doubt that that's the case, though.

Additionally - I doubt anyone's rich neighbors will be purchasing one of these anytime soon. If they were interested in the GMC TopKick for status, then they'd have been interested in the International XT series of trucks.

But they aren't, are they?

High-End or not, these vehicles are intended for purposes which your standard Ford F-150 or GMC Yukon can't handle. Want to tow a 30' horse trailer through the Rockies? This will do it. Want to tow your Yacht across the state? This will do it.

Want to park at the mall or on the street while shopping, allowing everyone to see what a massive stud you are?

This can't do that.

Want to use a drive-through at the bank or McDonald's?

This can't do that.

Want to park in your office's parking ramp before heading up to the penthouse office you have?

This can't do that, either.

In other words - just like the prior complaints about how pathetically underpowered it was - your belief that you'll see these "heaps" just sitting in people's driveways is laughable.

It's a purpose-built vehicle, which you can, if you choose, make more comfortable than any other vehicle in the same class - while hauling an industrial A/C unit in the back.

Hypocrite, the second half of your post makes perfect sense but I think you made the oft-committed mistake of assuming people will do the logical and/or sensible thing. Sure, this truck is only good for power hauling and not for showing off, but people are stupid enough to buy it anyway to show how cool they are or be a "real man" or whatever half-cocked reason they can come up with. Yeah, you can't use it to just get around but people will try anyway just because.

I live in the South and I see people driving these monstrosities of trucks with more tires than I can count while driving that I can guarantee you have never used it for any kind of heavy work. It's just a giant substitute phallus for them to flaunt.

(Of course, some people do buy giant trucks for hauling and I respect that. But most likely you wouldn't be looking for the "Ironhide" package in a work truck.)

Wow, this thread is pretty lame now, even with Ironhide in it. :(

Hypocrite, chill dude, I never advocated the Prius or preachy jet-set celebrities. Suddenly I'm endorsing nuclear power? :rofl

Personally I think, given the the current environmental and geopolitical situations, people should drive as small a car as they can be comfortable with. People seem to forget that it's just a means of getting from A to B. If you need a big car with a big engine to feel like a big man, or an 'empowered' woman, I can only pity you.

This dinosaur gets 7.5 MPG!?! It makes the Hummer look eco-friendly! No one has a problem with people who actually need a vehicle like this for their line of work, just the yuppies who will use them as a status symbol. And the Ironhide edition would seem to fall into that latter category.

Sorry, I thought it was obvious I was kidding about the 'eco-terrorism', I don't advocate any of that, but I do know of people getting their SUVs keyed. That's unfortunate, but I'm afraid they'll only get so much sympathy from me. A keyed car is superficial damage, it'll still continue to run as inefficiently as ever. I've had bikes vandalised, stolen, and that seems to be far more prevalent than any incidents of so-called 'eco-terrorism'. In my view that's the more insidious act.
