besides that bit of comic relief, he didn't seem too dim to me.

 

When was this non-dimness revealed? When he was contemplating killing Sam's parents? or when he was yelling "Megatron!"?

 

He's first of all, just a trigger happy gun nut. Secondly, it wasn't him that yelled "Megatron!". It was Ratchet. Third of all, he provides some interesting points. Why SHOULD the Autobots protect us. We are a relatively primative and violent race. That's some insight to his opinion of humans and I'm sure organics, making him sound more like a Decepticon than Autobot, until Prime explains why they are protecting them. This doesn't make him seem "dim" to me. I makes him seem smarter than you give him credit for.

 

I think thats a big stretch for the few lines he had. R2 had no lines and has more character.
